Our son’s birthday is always busy as it falls during hubby’s school vacation! We try to cram in as much fun as possible the whole week!

Usually, on Saturdays and vacations, I do a little more baking for breakfast – like pancakes or waffles from scratch. But I’d already cleaned the whole downstairs and decorated for the party, and I didn’t want more mess to clean up the day of the party.

Fortunately, I heard The Bakery at Walmart and Starbucks coffee make delicious pairings – or as we say in social media #DeliciousPairings.

I went to a Walmart store with a big grocery section to check out The Bakery at Walmart. Our local Walmart does not have a full bakery, so I was impressed with the rows of cookies, cakes, breads and rolls I found at the Walmart I visited! How convenient!

Unfortunately, this store did not have the Starbucks & Walmart #DeliciousPairings display set up, so I had to purchase the items in different parts of the store. I was looking for The Bakery’s Gourmet Cinnamon Rolls, as those are my ultimate favorite breakfast treat. But although there were six different types of cinnamon roll products, the Gourmet Cinnamon Rolls were not available here.

Instead, I got the Turtle Brownies. Yes, for breakfast. Turtle chocolates are my favorite chocolate candy, so I figured these would be so yummy!! I paired this choice with the Starbucks Dark French Roast ground coffee.

As coffee lovers, we are big Starbucks fans! We frequently stop into the local Starbucks for specialty beverages, or brew up our own pots of Starbucks at home (often with K-cup pods!). I admit I haven’t tried their French Roast previously, as it says “intense and smoky” on the package so I thought it might be too strong for me. (Spoiler alert: it was awesome!).

Of course, our toddler does not drink coffee, but this mommy LOVES her morning cup of hot, rich, creamy coffee! Our son loves to get his own little mug of milk and do “Cheers” clinks with our mugs! So funny!

Starbucks Dark French Roast alone is delicious! A full-bodied roast with some caramel-y, nutty tones, which are my favorite coffee notes. Little known fact, dark roasts actually have less caffeine than light roasts, so I feel like I can have a second cup! Which I did.

The morning we had our bakery treats at home, I paired the turtle brownies with a steaming mug of my Starbucks coffee. The sweet chocolaty flavor of the brownies went so well with the nuttier taste of the coffee. I think the pairing was perfect. The brownie had caramel drizzle with nut sprinkles on top, which brought out the nut / caramel notes of the coffee even more! The “intense and smoky” flavor was there, but mellowed by the sweet treats!

Our son loved asking for “one more bite” of the brownie (of course! wouldn’t any kid?). Thanks to a quick and easy breakfast with little prep and cleanup, we lingered a bit longer over the kitchen table, yet still had time to get all the party preparations done!

I may have to make getting breakfast treats a ritual when we have large projects and get-togethers – our Delicious Pairings with Starbucks and The Bakery at Walmart certainly was fun and a huge time-saver. Although, I hope I can find those gourmet cinnamon rolls next time I’m at Walmart!

That is so adorable! I can’t wait until my sons are old enough to have little breakfast dates with me.
