I can hardly believe 2013 is ending. That sounded cliche but it’s true. As I look back on this past year of blogging, I have mixed emotions.

What I loved about blogging in 2013

It’s been amazing to work with top brands and lovely small businesses. It’s always an honor when a brand chooses to work with our blog, and this past year I’ve shared exceptional products and brands with you!

I’ve also branched out, blogging on sites like Melissa & Doug, Ergobaby, Joovy, Maggie Bags, and Sulia. Expanding my writing is quite exciting and I hope you’ll visit me when I pop up other places web-wide!

Yet, to share my heart with you… as much as I appreciate all my sponsors, this past year was a bit overwhelming!

What I didn’t like about blogging in 2013

I pour my heart into writing and planning this blog, because I want to bring you quality posts. I pour MORE time into being a wife, mom, and homeschool teacher! It’s hard to be stretched so thin, as I’m sure you can imagine!

I felt my writerly voice getting lost in the shuffle. I used to write reflective and poetic posts, but I had to postpone those to make room for informative and review posts. (and I want to have the best of both worlds!!).

Although I did my best, I know I missed capturing some family memories and milestones, because I was trying to make deadlines. (I didn’t even write a Christmas poem this year! I feel like a huge failure on that point, but a forced poem is not something anybody wants to read!).

I could relate to Anne of Green Gables when she experienced the elation of seeing her writing published… then the bittersweet realization her story had been sold as a baking powder ad (although I don’t have a fumbling Diana to blame!).

So… with those thoughts in mind, I’m working on a blog renovation and relaunch in early 2014!!!

What will our blog relaunch include?

I’m striving for better work – life balance! My first priority is my family and I know all of you understand that!

There will be a brand new design! I’m so excited for a fresh look!

I’m working on my editorial calendar, and plan to create a stronger focus on natural family living – I’ve always talked about natural and organic living, but as a family AND a blog, we’re getting more purposeful about how we live and the products we use!

I want to provide more resources on parenting, education, and healthy living for families!

AND….. I know this is huge but… please be prepared as there is a STRONG possibility we’ll relaunch under a brand new name… we’re still working out details so stay tuned!!!

Please don’t be confused as we change things up – when the dust settles, it’ll still be us – Mom and Dad and our two boys ready to share our life stories with you!

I hope all of you come along with us into the next year of our blogging and beyond! I treasure all the comments, support, and encouragement you’ve given me over the years and wouldn’t want to lose a single reader!

P.S. When I saw the email with this post in my inbox I hopped over to share my opinion. Even if there wasn’t a giveaway opportunity I would have shared my two cents. Thanks Julie and have a very happy new year.

Julie, please save your header photos in a FB album both from when A was a baby and this one when E was born. I love watching them grow. =)
