I hate to think Sunday Dinner is one of those “childhood memories” I have invented or overblown (people tell me I do this! haha!). But. I have fond recollections of coming home from church, being forced into child labor asked to help set the table with our “Sunday china” and then enjoying a fifteen-course delicious meal around the table with family.

Now THAT’s what Sunday dinners should be like!

I tried to keep that “big Sunday dinner” tradition alive when I got married. But since having children, it seems there’s no time for the preparation of such a big meal on Sundays. So I’ve had to improvise and use the slow cooker more than usual to save time and keep the Sunday Dinner tradition going.

These slow cooker Sunday dinner ideas that I’ve collected on Foodie.com save time and the idea of Sunday dinner at home!

The pot roast and 40-garlic chicken are easy to recognize as family favorites for a Sunday dinner. And in our Italian house, lasagna and pasta with meatballs made a frequent appearance.

I’m planning to try some new dishes out. Like pulled pork, sweet and sour pork chops, beef stroganoff, or a corned beef dinner.

The other part of Sunday Dinners I can’t forget were the loads of side dishes, so get yourself another slow cooker so you can also enjoy mac & cheese, mushrooms & rice, or some tasty fresh baked (in the slow cooker!) rolls!

Added bonus: a delicious dessert without too much fuss: fruit cobbler.

Guess you’ll need a few more slow cookers. (Confession: I have three different sizes of slow cooker! And I use them ALL!).

What’s your favorite Sunday Dinner idea? Did you spot some of your favorites on my list?

Big Sunday Dinners were never something at my house though I had friends who had that. Sunday here is usually something we scrambled together because sometimes I don’t include it in my weekly planning. Whatever we can find! My favorite easy crockpot is a beef roast from Trader Joes that is already seasoned up. I shred it up after it’s cooked and put on hoagies with cheese. French Dip style. :)

Here’s a crockpot recipe our family enjoys http://www.pinterest.com/pin/88523948899843805/. We steam our broccoli separately as we used fresh broccoli and I didn’t want to worry about it getting mushy in the pot. We serve this over rice.
