The Baby Camping Survival Guide

All right folks. Baby 2.0 here and since I’m about to hit my one-month birthday, it’s time I pull my weight around this blog.

I’d like to start out by saying my mommy is probably STILL recovering from that camping trip we went on a few weeks ago. She says she’ll do another one but I’m not so sure. I had a blast though, so since I want her to take me camping again (sand tastes GOOD!), I’m gonna give a few pointers on how to survive a camping trip with a baby.

Number One. (Yes, I know all about the number one, I’ll be one this week!). Bring more snacks, mommy! I know Earth’s Best sent a pile of yummy snacks and bars this month as part of your blogger program… you should have brought the entire box! I can clean out a canister of Earth’s Best Yogurt Puffs faster than you can pop the lids off them!

Those little Yogurt Puffs were the only thing that saved me from boredom while you and daddy were figuring out the whole tent-pitching thing or making food. I not only like the taste, but I love to roll the can around inside the tent or playard just for fun. You should probably just skip that time-consuming food-on-the-fire bit next time and pack some Earth’s Best snacks for yourself too. We’ll all be happy then!

And yeah, I saw my big brother eating his Sunny Days snack bars … let’s be clear here, I can handle those too now. I have teeth!

Number Two. Ground cover. Not only do I cover a lot of ground, but you need to cover the ground. Next time, please bring a roll of outdoor carpet or something! I really wanted to get down more often and roam around. I don’t understand why glass and cigarette butts are not good for me, but if they aren’t, then please cover the ground for me so I can move about and not be stuck in the tent so much!

Number Three. Mini-me needs  a mini-tent. I saw you getting so excited when Kidco sent you a complimentary PeaPod travel bed for review. I wondered what the hype was, but now that I’ve tried it, definitely bring the PeaPod again.

Not only do I look so cute in my own tent, but it kept me safe (and clean!). Too bad I couldn’t quite get used to it for night time sleeping, but maybe next time, mommy! At least I managed to get a nap in one time (the ocean waves….).

The PeaPod was especially fun at the beach… it kept me happy playing near the ocean but away from the sand and not in direct sunlight. There’s breathable mesh for airflow, and UV protection on the top and sides. Now you don’t have to worry about me getting dirty in the campground or beach or park anymore, mommy! (But I STILL want to get out and run around sometimes, so be sure to use the anchor straps or I’ll keep trying to roll my way over to you!).

I’m kinda mesmerized by how you can fold the PeaPod travel bed up to carry around … I’m just happy you brought it along – one thing to remember for the next camping trip!

Okay, well, you got all that, mommy? I hope so… maybe next camping trip you won’t be quite so traumatized. Of course, I’ll probably figure out how to walk by then, so… no promises!

What items would your baby tell you to bring on a camping trip or outdoor adventure?

Thanks to Kidco for providing items for review. This post is also written as part of the Earth’s Best Blogger program; I was provided samples and may be eligible for additional rewards. All opinions are 100% my own.

perfect timing! We will be taking our 9 month old camping for the first time next month and I cant even begin to think about all of the things I am going to need to bring. These are perfect examples of where I may have fallen short, thank you!
