In 2011, 121 recalls of children’s products were made in the United States.
Does that figure stun you? That’s almost three items per week being recalled! When I read that, I wondered if I own any of these items.
I recently found out I was using a recalled item (the Bumbo seat) only when I tried to sell the tray (which I never liked) in a local moms group. Another mom PM’d me to tell me the product had been recalled! Yikes!
Then I consider all the toys and items I just purchased for my sons and neice and nephew… and I wonder how safe they all are?
Recalls Plus monitors recalls on your children’s items with an easy-to-use app.
- Create Checklists by Age: browse Newborn, Infant, or Toddler to add items
- Add Any Product: Track recalls on brands you already own or want to buy. For example, Britax Stroller, Graco Toys, etc.
- Track Foods: Get alerts on food recalls for 8 food allergies
So if your toys have pieces that become a choking hazard, or your raisin snack packs inadvertently got peanuts added … Recalls Plus posts the recall immediately – you don’t have to hope you find out before it’s too late!
You only get alerts from Recalls Plus when the recall is for an item you’ve listed. Or browse the nationwide list of recalls (especially good for the food recalls). Then, you can share any of the recall notices via email and social media to alert your family and friends.
I like using Recalls Plus to give me greater peace of mind about the products we’re using with our kids. Won’t you add it to your device today? You can double check your Christmas purchases right while you wait in line to buy them!
How effective do you think our current recall system is working? Have you ever had a product you owned be recalled?
