We’ve been taking our nearly 15-month-old to swimming lessons in our town for the past few Saturday mornings. I love holding him, swirling him, feeling him cling like a koala to my shoulder. (I have more to write about swim lessons later!).

He’s the youngest in the class, although there’s a few babies near his age. And I bet none of them are wearing a cloth / reusable swim diaper! It’s a shame, since cloth swim diapers are a cloth diapering option pretty accessible for most parents, even if they don’t cloth diaper normally.

I have read some town pools forbid cloth swim diapers. Which to me is silly because a plastic swim diaper does the exact same thing – allows moisture to pass through but contains solids. On the upside, I’ve also read once officials at a town pool/park are educated about cloth swim diapers, they have changed their policies. Smart people!

We have a few different swim diapers in our house. i play sent us their Ultimate Swim Diaper to try out this summer! i play offers numerous boy/girl prints in the Ultimate Swim Diaper, and they are CUTE! Some of the girl diapers have a little ruffle on the butt!

One feature I especially like about this diaper is that unlike other swim diapers I’ve seen, which mostly just have mesh lining, iPlay’s swim diaper has an extra absorbent layer. I really like that, because at the pool there’s a bit of a delay from when we get him changed, and when we can actually go in the pool. I used to stuff an insert in the swim diaper for those 10 minutes or so, but that was a pain to fish out again. With this diaper, it’s okay if he goes a LITTLE bit, because the layer will handle it.

i play sent a size large, which turned out to be a bit big for our baby. But the elastic legs and waist still provide a good fit!. It’s a bit puffy on him due to the size, but he’ll grow into it! It would be nice if the legs were gussetted, but they still hold messes nicely. I know from experience, as our baby decided to poop in the diaper right after our little photo shoot.
