The quest for the perfect night time diapering solution can be lengthy. And your needs may change as your baby gets bigger, wets more or less, and grows into and out of various diaper sizes and styles.
Don’t be discouraged if you have to try a lot of options to get it right. You’ll hit the magic combo after awhile, or perhaps right away! When I was searching for a night solution I read a lot of blogs to find out what other moms used. Turns out I wasn’t stuffing sufficiently, so my diapers weren’t making it through the heavy soaking they got at night.
About a month ago, I traveled to Sloom|Sustainable Babyish in Massachusetts for an Open House where I chatted with tons of other CD moms – if you can get to one of these events, they are tremendous fun! It’s great to talk to other moms who have similar CD struggles and successes, and also be in touch with people like Erin and her husband, owners and founders of Sloomb, because they are just a wealth of knowledge about any cloth diaper issue you might have, especially regarding wool!
After talking to Erin about my goal to help moms find quality night time solutions for their stash, Sustainable Babyish was so kind as to have me review their Organic Bamboo Fleece Fitteds (with snaps!) as an option for night time diapering. Check it out – squash – I love that color!
First, let me say these diapers are beautiful, with their lovely ruffled elastic edges, deep saturated colors, and the naturals have the colorful trim! They are also luxuriously thick and soft! Erin firmly believes all babies deserve a soft diaper!
What makes the Sustainable Babyish Fitted wonderful for night time diapering are the stacks of absorbency. To begin, it’s a bamboo diaper, which really can take a soaking. But then there’s a double layer snap-in soaker which generously extends from front to back of diaper. Add the extra 3-layer doubler (which I fold in half and place in front for my boy), and you have a solid diaper to last you through the night.
Notice the fitted comes with snaps, and you know I love my snaps! The size Large I have for my son is more than generous for his 21 pounds, and I am happy he had lots of room to grow. The cool thing about Sustainable Babyish’s sized fitteds is how the sizings overlap. So you can go from a small to a large, and skip the medium if you want (or XS to M if you started diapering a teeny baby). This is great because it’s a little more frugal.
As I mentioned last week, the keys to a great night diapering solution is to find a cover that contains, and a stuffing that absorbs. Of course, for many people that means WOOL, right?! Wool is fantastic, especially for night time! Read what I wrote during the Wild & Woolly event about how great Sustainable Babyish Wool works!
Sustainable Babyish offers a night diapering kit – the Organic Bamboo Fleece Fitteds paired with an amazing Sustainable Babyish double layer knit wool cover! Talk about a home run in night diapering!
