What About When You Can’t Use Cloth Diapers?

Cloth loving readers, you know I adore cloth diapering. Yet, in our diapering journey there have been instances where we have switched from cloth to [gasp!] disposables. In fact, I don’t know if I have met a cloth diapering parent yet who has not needed to use a disposable diaper at some point. (I’m sure there is somebody, I just don’t know them!!).

We’ve had rash issues, sickness (mine or the baby’s!), nursery, laundry stripping, travel, and maybe other reasons I’m not thinking of that made cloth diapering next to impossible.

In our family, it has mostly been rash issues that had me swapping cloth for disposables while I stripped ALL the diapers, yet again! During these times, we’ve had to use disposables, and I have tried out a few different brands in the process.

Not all disposables are created equal. Many leak, and most are full of Super Absorbent Polymers and bleached fibers. It’s good to research your diaper brands, and find ones that have less impact on our world and our children’s health.

Earth’s Best Chlorine Free Diapers are made with renewable resources and fewer petro-chemicals. Using non-chlorine bleached materials, they contain naturally absorbent corn and wheat.

And, Earth’s Best also has Sensitive Chlorine Free Baby Wipes, never treated with chlorine bleach, but moistened with a gentle, natural shea butter lotion using aloe vera, oat oil, and Vitamin E. The thick, cloth-like wipes are unscented and great for hands, face, and bums!

My favorite part is how Earth’s Best products are readily available in mainstream grocery stores – so you don’t have to search too hard to find them! So, while I prefer my cloth diapers, I think knowing what your alternatives are is a good plan, too!

Have you had times when you could not, or chose not to use cloth? What were your alternatives?

These were the exact diapers we used on our daughter while we were waiting for her to grow into her cloth diapers. They were awesome. Expensive but awesome. We ordered them in bulk from Amazon.com and that did help with cost.

We love Earths's Best Sensitive Wipes and use them all the time. We haven't figured out how to make cloth wipes work for us yet, and these don't give our daughter a rash like other brands we've tried. We also use their diapers whenever we can't use cloth for whatever reason like during a recent move. Great diapers (for disposables, of course)!

I love our Earth's Best Diapers! We use disposables at daycare. We started out with several other brands, both regular and natural or sensitive and all the other ones we tried either caused rashes or had horrible blowouts. I actually order mine through Amazon!
