Easy Noon Year’s Eve Party Ideas

Whether you start in the morning and go all day until midnight, or just till noon, you’ll want a few activities to countdown to the big moment. Here’s some party ideas we’ve enjoyed in year’s past. Plus a few Noon Year’s Eve Party Ideas we’ll try this year! Every year we make our party a little better (and a little easier!).

Activities & Games – Noon Year’s Eve Party Ideas

Stage a Photo BoothHappy New Year Photo Booth Props

When guests arrive, have them snap a photo to commemorate the moment! I hang a plastic tablecloth, tinsel garland, or sparkly backdrops. Provide photo props on sticks like these winter sparkle props, and you’re done! These days everyone has a camera phone so that part is easy. Or what about using an Instax instant cameras for a fun effect?

Fast & Easy Board games

For kids who want to chill out, have a few tables set up with easy board games to play. Here’s a few we enjoy:

  • Yeti in my Spaghetti
  • Pie Face
  • Connect Four
  • Trouble

Use craft kits for easy projects!

Winter and New Year\'s Eve party games, crafts, hats, collage

Cutting out snowflakes, or inexpensive multi-packs of easy winter craft kits like these snowflake frames, snowman ornament, and puzzles are a great way to keep little hands busy while you wait. You could have kids complete a new craft on the hour, or put them all out for kids to pick and choose.

DIY party hats and noisemakers

Set out plain party hats and noisemakers, some washi tape, stickers, and markers and let kids go to town decorating their own party hats. When the time comes for the exciting moment, everyone will have their own unique look to celebrate! Check out these noisemakers we’ve made!

Play Minute to Win it games

An hour could be spent on these fun and laugh-generating Minute-to-Win-It games. They are so low-prep, and if kids don’t take to one, you can easily switch to another game (try these!)… in a minute!

Make a hands-on snack

Pretzel kisses are a fun and easy snack kids can help make!

Complete a reflection worksheet

I love this Stars & Wishes worksheet for kids – naming things that SHINE from the last year and three WISHES for the new year. Plus 3 more reflection worksheets for kids!

This year I also discovered Big Life Journal’s New Year’s Growth Mindset Printable kit, which contain 16 pages of a growth mindset prompts to help kids reflect on 2017 and get excited about what they’ll achieve in the next year. The engaging and colorful pages are perfect conversation starters for kids and parents!

Text, printables for New Year\'s Goal Setting

TIP: At a party, kids are excited and wound up. So either just have kids complete one page like “New Things to Try in 2018” or “12 Things I Want To Learn in 2018.” Or find some one-on-one time with your child on another day to work through the remaining pages at your leisure.

Check out my video detailing this exciting journaling printable kit!

Create a DIY Balloon Drop!

A group of people standing in front of a tale with new years party ideas

The highlight of every Noon Year’s Eve party is our balloon drop! It’s so easy to make and has such a big effect! Simply tape together two festive plastic tablecloths and use painter’s tape to affix it to your ceiling. Keep one end open and have a little slack to fit the balloons in. Then blow up a few dozen balloons and slip them into the open end and tape that up to.

I also like to cut some paper or tissue for confetti and throw that into the mix as well. When twelve noon (or midnight if you’re going for the real deal) comes, countdown the minute beforehand, then release the tape and balloons and confetti will shower down around everyone!

Serve New Year’s Eve Inspired Snacks

New Years Party Ideas, fluted glasses with milk and juice, candy rings

After the balloon drop, we always have a snack table ready before parents bundle up their kids to go home.

Midnight milk and cookies (like a midnight snack?) in plastic champagne flutes. I got the idea here at Style Me Pretty!! I recreated it using dark chocolate cookies (for midnight) with colorful M&Ms for the confetti thrown as the New Year begins! Fun, right!?

Party Candy! How about Hershey Kisses for the “kiss at midnight”? Hand everyone a Ring Pop to “ring in the New Year!”

Lunch Bites! Sandwiches, veggie trays, mac and cheese, make your own pizza, and soup have been popular lunch bite ideas for our kids and their friends!
