Freezing up some fun with Zoku Pops

I know I probably shouldn’t be thinking popsicles when it’s still winter here… but I do love a good frozen treat. Trouble is, have you seen all the things that are IN most ice creams and popsicles? I can barely find any with just whole fruit or fruit juices.

So I was thrilled to get to review the Zoku Quick Pop Maker!

I’ve tried making yogurt pops with and without fruit, double-flavored, and with faces. And I’ve tried 100% fruit juice pops, which you can get really creative with making stripes and other designs! Check out this strawberry yogurt pop with fresh strawberries embedded – doesn’t it look like a heart (sorta?)? Perfect for a party or shower!

The Zoku is so easy to use – really! You just freeze it for 24 hours, then put the sticks in, pour in your pop juice or yogurt (even make soda pops!) and wait. About 7-9 minutes later you have perfect pops (clearly I still need to watch my fill line!). You can do about 3 rounds before the pop maker thaws (less if you’re making fancy stuff!). You can use your imagination to make unique pops, mixing and matching colors and flavors – even chocolate dipping the pops! My favorite part, of course, is now I can make organic popsicles because I choose the juices and yogurts I use!

I also tried out the Zoku Character Kit, which adds a whole new dimension of fun. Okay, now this accessory takes some practice. I love cutting the shapes out of thinly sliced fruit, but I keep having a hard time not bumping the wall of the pop maker when I slide them in… so my faces generally don’t end up where I want them too! Here’s one face I tried to make… it didn’t turn out great for a photo!

But I am still practicing, and it will be so fun when I get to this level:

What flavor popsicle would you make?
