Hands-On Gift Ideas for Kids

Gift-giving is one of my main love languages, so I love to find and buy gifts for my kids (or make them!). I also love to see my children engaging in thoughtful, creative play. So… that just means I have to be intentional with the toys I give them. I specifically look for hands-on gift ideas for kids when I shop for any child. I actually love researching great toy ideas that delight children, and let them learn through play!

Hands-On Gift Ideas for Kids Roundup!

Ring It game

Ring It!

This exciting new game from Blue Orange Games combines matching with socialization! I also love how the game allows players to play simultaneously – this is is great for young kids who haven’t yet learned to patiently wait their turn during board game play. As players flip their cards, they’ll find combinations – then they clap their hands and ring the bell. What’s fun about this game is each round there’s a new silly action to complete before you ring the bell! It’s a real ice-breaker as kids laugh and giggle through the motions!

Oil pastel book and felt mosaic book

eeBoo

Crafting and creating are another way to engage children’s busy minds and hands! I really enjoy going all out with luxurious looking and feeling art supplies – if you convey that art is special through the materials you present, your children will get that message! eeBoo clearly believes in simply gorgeous art supplies to stimulate imaginations. Their packaging is delightfully detailed, and their materials cover a wide range of textures and shapes and colors. Great gift ideas include: Soft oil pastel crayons – familiar to children because of their stick shape, but add the bonus of blending for a new art experience. Or, introduce kids to color, form, and design with their whimsical Felt Mosaic game – 72 Felt triangles, a flocked board and 100 practice images to boost creativity as kids arrange and play.

Roominate RV rPower toy collage

Roominate

I’m pretty excited about the possibilities for this toy. Rooominate is a STEM-based toy that lets children build not just the structure using modular pieces and universal joints (a room, a ferris wheel, an RV, etc), but also experiment with basic circuitry to build a motor that can power their creation in a variety of ways (both projects included in the box and ones they invent!). The Roominate RV can be transformed into a food truck or other vehicle, so builders aren’t limited to just the initial build. The rPower accessory brings the creations to life from app or tablet with a small power hub (connect 8 circuits at a time) – turn on the lights, motors, buzzers, and sensors!

Collage of shoes at different angles

Pediped

I believe a lifetime of healthy feet starts when children are first learning to walk. Getting great shoes for children as a gift is a wonderful idea. No, it’s not “hands on” but it’s “feet forward” and I love Pedipeds so I am including them! Give children the same quality of shoe that you would want for yourself. pediped shoes have flexible soles, cushioned heels and foam padding for comfort. They are recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association as beneficial for growing feet. You will notice the difference in the way the shoes bend and move as your child walks. Each shoe comes with an insert to adjust fit as children grow, giving you a little more “wiggle room” in their shoe life!

Buy pediped on Amazon PRIME or on pediped.com.

I, too, like the portability of the felt mosaic game!

That felt game gift idea looks great. I think it is more portable than the wooden tan-grams I've seen.
