I tried gDiapers…and I like them!

When I first saw gDiapers in stores a couple years ago, I wasn’t  sure I got the whole concept. Was it cloth? Was it disposable?

I’ve been using my set of four gDiapers for over a month now, and I get it. I totally get it! gDiapers are like a hybrid car. Or having your cake and eating it too.

You get the cool aspect of cloth (less waste, fun prints and colors) and the convenience of disposables (easier/less washing).

So… how does it work? You get the gPant cover, the breathable snap-in liner (gBreathe!), and then you tuck in a gRefill disposable insert (or gCloth reusable insert).

The gPant and gBreathe technology

The gPant’s hook/loop closures attach around to the back of the diaper rather than around to the front. This keeps baby hands from unfastening them, and I noticed my son’s clothes fit more smoothly in front.

gPant covers are sized, from small to x-large (6-34+ lbs). I have the mediums (13-28 lbs), and I am curious to see how they will fit at the farther end of the weight limit as it seems my son fills them out really good right now at 16+ pounds. Of course, once he starts crawling, his waist should slim out.

You snap the liner pouch into the gPant – this waterproof, breathable pouch uses gBreathe technology to keep baby dry.

I found I had to change my baby’s gDiaper just a bit sooner than usual (about 2-3 hours max), otherwise, I had a few small side leaks, or a slightly damp feeling on the front of the diaper (remember I have a boy!). But if I changed the diaper regularly, it was fine. So it seems the diaper only leaked when maximum saturation was reached, NOT because of fit. And even then, this happened very rarely, and I used the gDiapers exclusively (except for night time) for two weeks. The gRefill and gCloth:

What is amazing about the disposable gRefills is how they are 100% biodegradable: “They’re the only disposable diaper that truly goes back to the earth.” You can compost the gRefills at home, toss them without filling the dumps with plastic, or even use the swishstick to flush them down the toilet! Putting poop in its place! WOW!

You simply tuck a gRefill into the gPant liner and put the diaper on your baby. The fit is trim as the gRefill inserts are slimline. Performance-wise, I was happy with the way both performed, although I thought the disposable insert held up longer than the gCloth.

The gCloth is 4 layers – 2 microfleece and 2 hemp/cotton. Oh so soft as well! I often would double up the gCloth to have more absorbency which worked awesome! Honestly, these are my new favorite inserts for their softness!
Washing the gPants? Easy. The covers are plain cloth and the liner snaps out to be hung dry. It was nice to take a break from laundry during my exclusive gDiaper trial, but knowing I was not using harmful materials at the same time gave me peace of mind!
I don’t know why I was nervous to use gDiapers. So silly! Within a day I was hooked on the cuteness and ease of the system. I’d definitely pick up gDiaper inserts again when I want a disposable option.
Have you seen the cuteness of their holiday stripe print? gDiapers also has gStyle – matching shirt and dress that go with their gPants! Plus a full line of accessories – gCloth liners, wetbags and pail liners, biodegradable wipes, swish sticks for the poo. Even gLegs!! You can get started with a Sweet Bundle that includes six gPants and a case of inserts for $139.99.

I have tried them, and found that they're best for potty, my daughter's poop ran out of the liner every time. I only used them while exclusively breastfeeding when the poops are runny though!
