Growing up, Valentine’s wasn’t just for lovers. My mom would put up red hearts and doilies, and we’d get a special treat at breakfast. Sometimes, my dad would get us girls a little gold bracelet or something special. The first year I was in college, my dad sent me a lovely heart bracelet, since I had to be away from home.

I think Valentine’s should be not necessarily all about romantic love, but about love in general. And I just love my two guys! :) I plan to do something special for each of my guys this Valentine’s Day – for hubby and my little sweetie, too!

Know what would make a great surprise for little ones this Valentine’s? A fun toy from B. Toys! Personally, I love B. Toys – they are innovative, quirky, and luscious to look at. Yes, I used luscious to describe baby toys! You know how most baby toys are primary colors – all bright and pre-school (not that there’s anything wrong with that!)? B. Toys has these creamsicle-y colors for their toys – fuschia, saffron, sage, aqua, cream… it’s refreshing for the adult eye, and a novelty for little ones.

B. Toys sent me a few of their new items to try out (yes, I played with them myself, I did!).

Hugs:)Links (ARV $14.99)- because there’s no such thing as too many hugs (Isn’t that perfect for Valentine’s!?). Babies will love the 24 clickety colorful links, each with a happy rattle. String together a 3-foot long chain! Shake for noise, spin for movement. And a great container to play with. In the jar. Out of the jar. In. Out. – you can see how little ones will love this, right?

Sugar Chute  (ARV $19.99) – instead of sugary sweets for your sugar-pie this Valentine’s, give this fantastical play gumball machine. Press levers, turn keys, pull knobs and beautiful balls rattle down! Reach in for the prize, and then toss it back in the top chute to keep rolling! Best of all – no batteries or coins needed (and it makes delightful REAL noises, not electronic noises!).

Did my baby love these? You bet! Although he is in a throwing stage right now, so I have links and baubles all over the living room! Ha Ha! Mommy spent more time putting the balls back into the Sugar Chute while baby threw them out! We had a blast though, and I know these are going to be much loved toys!

I had never heard of B Toys until you mentioned them. They look great. I will definitely be checking them out next time I'm at Target!

As far as baby's favorite toys…well besides remote controls and cell phones…he likes blocks that he can take out of the basket to throw all around the room, balls that he chases all over the house, and books that open and close.

The colors are really nice! My little guy doesn't have a favorite toy, unless you count the one his older sister is playing with at any given moment!

What cute toys. My little guy would love those!

In regards to the funny things kids say: My 2 year old daughter finished putting a puzzle together, on the floor, and looked up at me and said “Check it out Dude!” I laughed so hard I was crying! With being snowed in, I guess we have been watching a little bit to much of Finding Nemo! Now she says it just to make us laugh because she knows we think it is funny!

I actually love B. Toys … but beware the Sugar Chute!!!

I'm not overprotective by any stretch (LOL), but that is one of very few toys we returned to the store over safety concerns. The corners on the little door are actually quite sharp, and it's designed to stay in an open/upright position when lifted so baby can take the balls out … putting it frighteningly-close to eye level when they bend to retrieve those balls. :(

After our youngest was poked in the face — multiple times — within a few days of purchasing this toy, we took it back to the store, demonstrating our concerns (and notifying the company) so the design might be rethought a bit. A simple matter of rounding those bottom corners on future models would easily solve the problem. Unfortunately, they're still exactly the same. Shame! Such a nice toy in theory.

Oh that is a bummer about that toy – I did check it and you’re right the squared off edges would be cause for concern. My son isn’t really interested in taking the balls OUT – he just likes to throw them around, which is probably why I never really noticed that. I’ll be sure to keep an eye on him when he plays with it now, thank you for the heads up! J

I am the Chief Toymaker (really!) for B. toys. Came upon your comment on this wonderful blog …. looked at the door on our Sugar Chute and…. agree with you!

I don’t know when/how you notified us. We don’t have an email or record of a call from you …. but I’m delighted to act on your suggestion. (And so happy we read the comments section under the review).

We strive every day to B. good to kids, their parents — and our planet. We take a mom’s suggestion truly to heart because long before we are toymakers………..
      ….. we are parents first!

All our toys pass or exceed all USA, Canadian, and even the more stringent European safety tests. Sugar Chute does too. Still, we will round the corners because it’s the right thing to do.

The change to rounded corners on the door won’t happen until Fall shipments of Sugar Chute. But when it does, you’ll know YOU affected a toy design.

      Thank you!
