Pineapple Melon Smoothie Recipe

Smoothies are probably my favorite treat or quick meal. They’re cool, creamy, with just a dash of sweetness. Plus, you can pack them with energizing ingredients, like in my latest Pineapple Melon Smoothie Recipe!

Hang on just a minute and I’ll tell you what’s in it. But first I’ll tell you how I came up with this recipe idea!

Sometimes I get stuck in my rut of banana blueberry smoothie with a scoop of almond butter (and that’s a good one, for sure). And other times, I mix up concoctions that don’t really seem to do a whole lot for me. I needed an inspiration… and then I found one!

Get ready for the latest smoothie tool: The Superfood Generator!

Friendship Dairies, makers of the Original Superfood since1 1917 (aka cottage cheese, because it’s high in protein and super versatile!) asked me to come on board as a blog ambassador and share their new Superfood Generator tool and a cool sweepstakes with you all.

When I tried out the Superfood Generator, I realized the genius of an online tool like this… the Smoothie Generator inspires you to try new mix-ins for your smoothies.

Plus, the Superfood Generator educates you on the nutrients in each ingredient. Every time you click a “mix-in,” the generator tells you about that fruit or veggie and what vitamins and minerals it adds to your smoothie. So I realized sometimes I use two or three ingredients that do the same thing (add vitamin C, etc.). It’s more helpful to vary your ingredients to pack more punch into your smoothie!

For a twist on the typical smoothie, use cottage cheese instead of the typical milk. Because I love-love-love creaminess, I went with Friendship Dairies 4% milkfat cottage cheese. You get a thick creamy curd that blends up with no tanginess like lower fat cottage cheese tends to have. I never thought about putting cottage cheese into my smoothies before, but really, that’s a nutritional boost of protein right there (great for people who can’t have nuts in their smoothies!). Friendship Dairies cottage cheese is a good source of long-lasting energy because it is high in protein.

When you finalize your smoothie mix in the Superfood Generator, it gives you a pretty graphic that tells you all about the health benefits of your smoothie recipe! Here’s mine!

Pineapple Melon Smoothie Recipe

I based my smoothie choices on what was already in the house (helpful! LOL). The Superfood Generator only lets you select 3 mix-ins online, so I chose pineapple cantaloupe/honeydew melon, and chia seeds. I’d never had a smoothie with melon in it before so I was really interested to see how this would taste.

Pineapple Melon Smoothie Recipe:

  • 1/2 cup 4% California Style Cottage Cheese
  • 1/4 cup pineapple chunks
  • 1/4 cup melon chunks (cantaloupe and honeydew are what I used)
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (more or less to your taste)
  • 1 Tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Orange slice for garnish (optional)

Blend all ingredients except orange slice! Pour into a tall glass, add straw and orange slice to garnish. Enjoy!

My smoothie came out cool and creamy with a light flavor from the melon. The chia seeds didn’t blend, so they added a fun speckled look and crunchy texture whenever I came across one! I very much enjoyed this recipe, although I think next time I might do all cantaloupe and leave out the honeydew!
