Happenings of the Harper Household

Symptoms: Our little boy has been kicking me really really hard lately, causing some sharp lower abdominal pains afterwards. I think I might be having a few Braxon-Hicks contractions, but I am not sure as I had none that I could tell in my last pregnancy.

Weight Gain: 145 lbs! I’m now 18 lbs past my pre-pregnancy weight. I suppose that is good if the 1-pound-per-week rule is true.

What made me cry: Oh boy, all sorts of things this week! First, clumsy me ran my shopping cart into a towering display of mustard jars, knocking them all over the aisle! *Tears* Good thing they were plastic. So embarrassing!

Then, my good friend sent me the picture book One Special Day, about a little boy becoming a big brother! So sweet… *Tears* (every time I read it!).

THEN….we installed the new video baby monitor in my son’s room. After putting him down for a nap, we watched him as he laughed and played. He was getting rowdy, so I decided to use the intercom feature to tell him to go to sleep. Little did we realize how scary this would sound to him (he knew about the camera but we’d neglected to show him the intercom). When he heard my voice speaking through the camera, he started screaming, terrified! I raced into the bedroom, horrified I had scared him that badly! *Tears* It took me an hour to get him calmed down again. … Lots of crying this week! Hopefully, there won’t be quite so much dramatics this coming week!

Thoughts from family: Our sons talks about “baby brother” all the time now…he still thinks the baby should be called “belly button” and bursts into fits of giggles when I tell him the baby needs a real name.

I can imagine that intercom would freak him out! My little one would probably cry, too. So neat that you are so close in pregnancy with me. :)

Fabulous photo of you. I always liked 28 weeks – it was sort of the breathe easy mark since if baby was born it would survive outside the womb. Still, better to keep him in as long as possible, but at least now, a sigh of relief. I guess those strong kicks are a sign of a strong baby. That is good.

You look wonderful! I had not thought about how scary an intercom voice would be, to hear Mama but no clue where she is. Thats something I will need to remember. I would have cried too lol
