Wool Diapering With Newborns

Last year began my love affair with wool – there’s so many things I like about it from the anti-microbial qualities, natural fibers, and just soft extra-fluffiness! Not to mention fun colors and stripes from upcycled sweaters or knits!

I plan to use wool a good amount of time with our newborn for various reasons, and I’m curious to hear from other moms who have used wool for newborns!

I think it could save me some laundry pileup – since you don’t have to wash the cover EVERY time you use it, I can use my fitteds and just keep reusing the same covers for a couple weeks. I actually don’t have a lot of newborn covers, so this will be handy for me, since I know the diaper/insert part will need to be changed more frequently those first few months!

Wool longies/shorties are rather forgiving in sizing, I think. The extended leg openings and stretchiness means I hopefully won’t have to worry about the baby quickly growing out of the wool covers.

The natural fibers are a big plus for me, because I won’t know right off if baby has any sensitivities, so I’m glad to have some wool on hand in the event that microfibers or PUL is too irritating to his new skin.

Do you use wool in your diapering? With newborns or older babies?
