DAD’S Log: Kung-Fu Grip

Five months in and hurtling towards the big half-year-old status for our baby (just 2 weeks away!). Been having a lot of fun on our morning routine. Get up…change diaper…play…make coffee…babble and jabber…tour and weed the gardens…chase an occasional woodchuck…and then the morning nap…for him.

So what has been the most fun is watching him get a handle on his hands. He has been working on his coordination with his five digits. Slowly and meticulously reaching out his hands to curl his fingers around the object of his desire. He holds on to toys pretty well, baby spoons, cups, my shirt or sport necklace, and sometimes…my wife’s hair! When he has a hold on something…oh boy look out! It reminds me me of my coveted G.I. Joe with the Kung-Fu grip! Man could G.I. Joe hold onto things…usually to save the day! I know what you are thinking…G.I. Joe is an action figure and not a doll!

So the fun continues with our little boy and his growth. Developing and working on his grip. I can’t wait for him to use that kung-fu grip on those garden weeds!
