I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Red Lobster. I received a gift card to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
It’s hard to come up with new date ideas, isn’t it? A fun thing we did last Friday was revisit a former date spot. Red Lobster!
Why Red Lobster? We don’t get there a lot because there’s only one in our area, but… it does have special romantic significance for us! Which is why our date was a bit more special than just any date night.
I’ll always have a soft spot for Red Lobster because, that’s where my husband and I went out to eat immediately after getting engaged. I know, what you’re thinking – well, great food, but… after an engagement? You’ll have to forgive hubby, he wanted to wait and plan out a big deal (uhhh, right, honey?) but I was leaving for Thanksgiving, and he didn’t want to let me go without proposing. So his proposal got rushed to the front of the line a bit!
Add to that, since I had NO IDEA he was going to propose (I had been thinking maybe the following year), I had made plans to go out with a couple we knew… to Red Lobster. You know, double date casual dining? (Which, incidentally is another great date night idea!).
Returning to Red Lobster with my husband of eight years brought back all the memories of the night my husband asked me to marry him.
The head cold.
The tissues.
The Darth Vadar-like breathing from my clogged sinuses.
The stunned “Are you kidding me?” answer I gave him (at first! I thought he was teasing! I did say yes, you know!).
And then, of course, a fun night out with friends at Red Lobster.
Great memories came flooding back when we went to Red Lobster last weekend for their somewhat astounding Endless Shrimp deal (now through September!). But we couldn’t help reminiscing dreaming about the future. Wait. Who am I kidding here – this is Type-A, spreadsheet-loving me we’re talking about so… analyzing the various potential futures…
Just like the engagement night, I was impressed with the amount of food my husband can eat! He tried Breaded Fried Shrimp, Wasabi Soy Shrimp on a skewer, Shrimp Scampi, and Alfredo Shrimp over Linguine. Double orders on some of those. An ocean of shrimp. If you love shrimp… you will love Endless Shrimp at Red Lobster (just go early – there’s LOT of people who LOVE shrimp!).
As I can only handle a few shrimp at a time, I went for the Four Course Feast! Soup, salad, tilapia, and dessert. I really like how Red Lobster has many options for people like me who like seafood but in small doses! (Oh and incidentally, I am also impressed by how Red Lobster is the ONLY full-service restaurant to ever make the Fortune 100 best places to work list!).
I did sample each shrimp dish and I must say the flavors are delicious! My favorite was the scampi!
Besides celebrating eight years, and a funny engagement story, our night out at Red Lobster was a great chance for hubby and I to reconnect before he started the school year.
With the Endless Shrimp special going on (just $15.99 for all you can eat shrimp!!), it’s a great spot to visit with family or celebrate a special moment in your life before the school year gets really going.
What’s a date spot you’d like to revisit? Ever been to a Red Lobster?
Tweet with Red Lobster on Twitter and Like them on Facebook!
I haven’t been to Red Lobster in ages. Oh I do love going there, and reading about all this good food it is a must do!
Red Lobster is definitely a favorite. I ALWAYS get their shrimp scampi.
Love that story! 🙂
my hubby is DYING to go eat All You Can Eat Shrimp. He’s been watching too many commercials lately.
