I never had eczema. So I didn’t know much about it. And didn’t recognize the round, scaly spots that appeared on my baby’s back, arms and legs last November.
Oh the various remedies I tried:
- Special diet – Eliminating dairy, wheat/gluten, eggs – this seemed to help the diaper area, but it can be difficult to follow a strict diet.
- Lotions – Various natural emollients – none permanently solved the problem.
- Fluids – additional breastfeeding sessions, and/or offering water/milk inbetween – this seemed to help a bit too.
Lately, we’ve added a new remedy to our arsenal. Clothing.
Delicate baby skin can be irritated by the smallest of fibers. Even if you use natural fibers, many clothing items are not designed with eczema in mind. Because eczema can be “self-perpetuating” (you itch, so you scratch, which makes you itch more, so you scratch more…), tags, seams and other features of even the best quality, organic clothing can still cause irritation.
HALO created a line of sleepwear that addresses this issue. They sent my son a pair of HALO ComfortLuxe pajamas for review to help his eczema problems. I love how smooth and soft the fabric feels!
ComfortLuxe sleepwear uses an innovative fabric that wicks away moisture and regulates your little one’s temperature. It’s breathable. It dries twice as fast as cotton. It is comfortable. In fact, ComfortLuxe™ Sleepwear has been awarded the Seal of Acceptance from the National Eczema Association.
Other features that help reduce abrasion include the flat interior seams and rollover cuffs to prevent scratching (on the coverall and base layer versions). Plus, the fabric does not absorb lotions and moisturizers, so they stay right where you put them, on the baby’s skin to reduce dryness!
My baby has enjoyed these pajamas. His eczema has cleared for the most part, with the occasional flare-up in the diaper area still. I’m glad his HALO pajamas have some room for growth, because I am hoping these help him continue to stay eczema-free!
HALO Comfortluxe sleepwear is available at Amazon.com and other baby stores.
Disclosure: I was sent a product for my use and review. I was not compensated in any way and all opinions are 100% my own.
I am a grandma who wants to sew my own clothes for my grandson with eczema is there any place I can purchase this type of fabric?

Cool!
I think it’s Dr Sears that says before any medicines or anything…switch to all organic clothing. The clothes they wear really make a difference!

Blue looks great on him!
I have never even heard of such PJs but what a great idea! I know our neighbors’ grandson had horrible eczema – they used to have to cover all his body areas before bed otherwise he would scratch in his sleep. So sad. It has been better since he’s gotten older. But he’s allergic to nearly everything. Poor guy.
