Disana Wool Shorties – Abby’s Lane

The final Wild and Woolly Cloth Diaper post. I am getting a tear in my eye!
Today I want to share my experiences with Disana Organic Woolen Covers. These look like mini sweaters for baby’s bum! They are adorable with their ribbed waist and leg openings and come in an array of colors (which of course, I picked red – gotta have the red!).
I got the red one!
(Red is my favorite color!)
Disana covers are made of double knit layers of organic pure merino wool in a pull-on style. The stretchy layers fit easily over diapers and rise high on the waist to make sure baby has full coverage. You could easily size up and put a slightly large cover on a smaller baby until they grow into it – it’ll look huge on them length-wise, but it will still form itself around the diaper and do its job keeping baby dry!

This wool cover might feel a little thin at the beginning, especially compared to an already felted upcycled sweater cover, but as you use and wash it, it will felt up slightly and feel thicker. The seams are soft and allow for easy of movement for baby. I did have to lanolize this cover twice, because I think I did something wrong the first time or didn’t let it sit enough. But the second time, I lanolized with the diaper inside out as most people recommend, and I feel I did a better job that time!

I love watching my baby’s red woolly bum scurry around the floor and know that he is staying dry! I will say these covers are a little thick under clothing, especially if you are using a slightly larger size at the beginning, so you might want to pair them with roomy overalls, fleece pants, or reserve them for nighttime use. But of course, it’s all your preference!

Noticed you were talking about Abby's Lane here. We wrote an article recently outlining how amazon has had a big impact on the cloth diapering industry and stores that have shut down at least partially as a result of this.
