Layering tips for family wear in cold weather!

Somehow I talked hubby into taking us to the outlet malls last weekend. I figured I’d beat the holiday rush?

The difficulty shopping in Connecticut is that although we have a couple lovely indoor malls, MOST of the shopping spaces are outdoor “promenade” style shopping areas – they want to look like the classic New England village, I guess. Someone forgot to tell them how AUTHENTICALLY COLD they’d be from November to March! fleece hoodies for boys But, I know this cold, hard fact about shopping in Connecticut, so we geared the whole family up in our Hanes fleece zip up jackets. They were perfect for layering. Since we were hoping in and out of stores – and from heated buildings to freezing windy sidewalks – the zip up hoodies were perfect for transitioning so often. layering tips for cold weatherfleece hoodies for boys The little guys loved their pinstripe NY hoodie fleeces, especially. They kept wanting to put their hoodies up and down. I was grateful for the extra layer of warmth it gave them and I did’t have to bulk them up too much with puffy winter coats (not yet!).

One thing I’m especially thankful for is these fleeces are tag-free, so there’s no itching or scratching for anyone, but especially little kids who have more delicate skin. Oh, and I REALLY love that the hoodie has no drawstring – very safe!

Tip #1 – for kids, try layering a bright, bold color henley or thermal under a zip-up hoodie. Or go for stripes – it’s okay to mix and match patterns, especially at the younger ages. hanes fleece for the familyhanes fleece for the family

Now you might think a fleece hoodie is the most casual thing ever – and for the most part it is. But the colorful Hanes hoodies for women can get a little uptick with a patterned scarf in a coordinating color! I loved how my purple and orange striped scarf picked up the plum in my hoodie.

As much as I know layering is essential for winter warmth, I don’t like feeling “bulky” so I was happy that my Hanes Live.Love.Color fleece hoodie has a more contoured fit. So it’s not like you’re wearing hubby’s sweatshirts! It kept me warm without the added bulk of a coat.

Tip #2 – women look great even when casual if you throw a slightly dressier scarf on top of your hoodie! It’s the surprising mix of textures that raises the level of the look! It just takes it from “raking the leaves comfy” to “holiday shopping cool!”

Tip #3 – guys, you get off easy, no matter what you wear, just put some jeans with it, and you’re good!

Of course, we had to stop in at the Hanes outlet while we were there – I was looking for another hoodie, it was so comfy! Oh, and all these hoodies and fleece sweatshirts were under $25! In fact, the boys’ hoodies are only $15!

Warm, comfy, fashionable, and affordable! I think that makes them a go-to family staple, don’t you!? Hanes comfy fleece for the family is available at Hanes.com and mass retailers.

We are a huge hoodie family! Those kid ones are super cute, but I love that scarf you tied in with yours! They all look so comfy cozy.

We have to layer here in Alaska. Thankfully, we do not have as many of the open style 'malls' (actually our malls are pretty lame compared to the lower 48.) However, many of the indoor places are so warm that I need the ability to strip off layers needed outside.

We love hoodies around here. We are so hot/cold natured that those are the best way for us to stay warm. We can layer or not layer! Love the colors of the hoodies your family got.
