Mondays Are My New Favorite Day

Don’t hate me. But lately I’ve been loving Mondays. There’s a sense of “renewal” on Mondays I never felt when I had to wake up, pack lunch, get in the car and face a class of pre-teenagers who didn’t want to get out their writing notebooks and “fill the page.” Today especially I loved Mondays, since my baby slept through the night (a not-so-small miracle I pray for every night!).
Our 9-month-old woke me at 7 a.m. singing “beeeah -beeah -beeeah” (half beep, half laugh). He’s so cute, rolling around, feet in the air. The minute he sees me (we have a game where I call his name softly and move slowly into his room, and he listens and tries to locate me as quickly as he can!) he shrieks with excitment, flips onto his belly, and does a super-human pushup so I can pick him up.
I love how bed-warm and wonderful he feels when he first wakes up. We “change the diapey” and I let him stay in his jammies while he nurses. Breakfast at the table, and then it’s time for our chores. Admittedly, his chore of chasing a truck up and down the hall seems a bit more fun than mine: Mondays according to MY PLAN are the big cleaning day – sheets, laundry, bathroom, and floors. Now that our little guy can entertain himself, I get it done in about an hour.
Nap #1 (today I snuck a little one in too), and then grocery shopping. He was a perfect angel when I stopped into my chiropractor for a quick adjustment, and loved sitting up like a big boy in the front of the cart at Whole Foods. We had time for a quick slice of pizza and pouch of mashed carrots and apples before heading home for nap #2 (I’ll let you guess who ate what!).

Lately Mondays have become Stir-Fry night as I try to use up leftover veggies from the previous week. I love that our baby eats with us at the dinner table, plays and yammers on in his sing-song baby voice. After dinner, there’s more romping, maybe a book or two, and a “tubby!” Today, he amazed us by pulling himself up to stand next to the tub, trying so desparately to get in – he loves tubby time!

Then it’s back into jammy-jams, reading, rocking, nursing, and night-night-I-love-you. I go downstairs to a clean house and a hubby who just put the Christmas tree up. And I think – Mondays, I love you now!

Don’t forget: A Merry Fluffy Christmas Cloth Diaper Giveaways start tomorrow! Dec 1-5 a new giveaway daily. Each giveaway is only open for 3 days, so don’t forget to enter right away! There will be no additional posts during these 5 days. I’ll chat with you again next week! Good luck!

Awwwww - I love this! It brought back such sweet memories from when my now teenagers (17 & 15) were babies. Our routine was similar. Sadly though I found I wished those beautiful sweet days away too quickly. I wish I could have them back again and cherish them as they deserve to be cherished. Enjoy every second of them - they will be gone before you know it.I found you via Heather's Acting Balanced Thirsty for Comments Thursday blog hop. I joined today actually. My entry is #15. I would love for you to swing by for a visit in your "spare time". HAHAHave a blessed day with your little man!Pam

T Rex Mom

Tuesday 30th of November 2010

I always get a little sad on Sunday nights because I know we are all going to miss T Rex Dad come Monday morning. And I know he hates leaving the kids. I kind of like Mondays, though. It's nice to get back to our routine. The kids miss their dad and are a little tough to manage but for some reason, we do tend to be our most productive.Your Mondays sound simply divine, as does your time with your little guy. It's wonderful that you can see this. It just goes by all too fast - almost as fast as it sounds like Asher can crawl!
