Natural Cleaning Tips You Can Use Today!

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Green Works. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Before we had kids, I made the decision to implement natural cleaning  into my household routine. Mostly because every time I cleaned the bathroom, I’d end up sneezing and coughing and choking from the smell (and particulates) of the cleaning supplies I used.

I got sick of it. Literally.natural-cleaner-lemon

Here are the natural cleaning tips that help us keep our house clean and fresh:

Vinegar and water spray bottles in several rooms for cleaning windows, mirrors, counters, even damp mopping our hardwood flooring. If I want a light scent, I put lemon peels in the solution (change out after awhile).

Baking soda is our go-to for scouring needs. Also for absorbing odors.

Old t-shirts, socks, micro-fiber cloths, and my DIY fleece sweeper cloths helped us cut back on the amount of paper towels we went through.

Olive oil for furniture polishing (a little goes a long way).

Essential oils dabbed on lightbulbs or diffused in spray bottles for air freshener.

What I like best about these natural cleaning tips, is they are easy to start doing right away! Almost everyone has these ingredients on hand! Also, natural cleaners are healthier, save money, and make a variety of cleaning solutions with just a few products. I hardly ever run out of cleaning supplies now, whereas I felt like I was always purchasing products in the past.

Do I ever use other products? Yes!

Now, there are still times when I resort to store-bought cleaners for tough projects. Like our granite and stainless steel. And our toilet. I haven’t found a homemade solution that works for our toilet! I have used Green Works at times, because “Green Works® cleaning products are made from high-quality ingredients that are at least 95% naturally derived.”

Green Works All Purpose Cleaner would work for my hard-to-clean areas because it’s safe to use on multiple surface areas. It’s plant and mineral derived, packaged in recyclable bottles, and not tested on animals.natural cleaning tipsWhat are your natural cleaning tips?
