Symptoms: I’m still getting a bit of nausea at dinner time, and last week had a 3-day headache, probably hormone-related, or possibly pre-natal vitamin related! Fortunately these symptoms are diminishing as the weeks pass. Still exhausted all the time despite getting 9+ hours of sleep a night! Yikes!
Weight Gain: I’ve gained a total of 5 lbs so far, I think. I’m around 131 but it keeps fluctuating. I don’t really keep good track of my weight, but I’ll try to do better for this journal! However, I do have quite the belly bump already!
Cravings: I always want salty foods… proteins. I eat a lot of eggs. And crave McDonald’s hamburgers and fries a lot – although I try not to give in that often.
Food Aversions: No specific food aversions, although I am not as “into” my daily coffee as I used to be (and I always drink decaf, so it’s not about the caffeine).
What made me cry this week: Seeing another mom cry reading a poem about motherhood made me cry…must be my sympathetic response. Also, watching a movie where a lady couldn’t conceive, and then finally did, but then lost the baby and then adopted. That made me cry. I find movies about children/mothers have made me cry a lot more since I had my first baby!
Medical Stuff: Had a little spotting one day that made me nervous but the doctor didn’t seem too concerned and it didn’t happen again. I’m getting chiropractic adjustments about weekly to keep the headaches away and joints limber for delivery! Would love to start some medical pregnancy massage as that really helped me out last time!
Thoughts from Family: I think Daddy is excited seeing the baby bump really come out now, and has started talking to the baby. Our son doesn’t entirely get it… he still thinks the baby is in my heart, not my belly. When I ask if he wants to be a big brother, he always says “no.”
Something I am excited about: Today I’ll be having my 13 week ultrasound and hope to see a clearer image of the baby, maybe some hand-waving!
