Symptoms: Some foot/ankle swelling, a little bit of cramping when I switch positions sleeping/sitting/standing. I visited the doctor today and they said I am “measuring small” (um, are they looking at me?) so I have to go for an ultrasound tomorrow to check the amniotic fluids. This happened with my last pregnancy too. Everything was fine then so I am hoping it’s fine now! *UPDATE* Baby weighs 4 lbs, 4 oz which is average for my dates; fluids were average too. So all is well. 🙂 He was so cute moving around on that ultrasound!
Weight Gain: I’m at 150 lbs. I’ve been pretty active, walking, gardening and cleaning like a mad-nesting-woman lately so I am not surprised that in two weeks only gained a pound!
Things people say to me:
- Misc. people: “Can I rub your belly?” If I know you.
- Stranger at gardening shop: “Oh my goodness, are you ready to go, like RIGHT NOW!?” (tactful, huh). No, I have 8 more weeks.
- 4 year old in my Sunday School Class: “What’s the matter with your stomach?” (right in the middle of my apparently-not-so-compelling-storytelling!).
- Friend: “Your belly is adorable!” Thank you very much!
Looking forward to: My birth! I took a hospital tour last week and was SO pleased with how they run their family birthing center, and I’m even considering trying a water birth this time, as they made it sound very appealing! I’ve always been curious to do this, but held back because I’d been told if you change your mind the nurses get mad at me. But I was assured this is not the case! I’m still kind of nervous to see if I will like being in the tub but might as well try it, as I hear amazing things from anyone who has done it!
Cravings: Well I just had a “cheesy egg” craving last night while watching Food Network. I’m not really sure that is pregnancy related as I always get food cravings watching that channel! Hubby was kind enough to make me eggs at 10 p.m. What a guy!
