Everything in the mouth. That’s the stage my 6 month old is at right now. And of course, most things also end up on the floor too. So, of course, I’m busy washing off pacifiers, toys, what-have-you before he sticks it back in again. Yes, I am concerned with what goes into his mouth. I know I can’t protect him from germs (bacteria) forever. But no need to encourage it!
Our little boy’s got his two “buds” showing me teeth are indeed preparing to appear. Since he’s wanting to nosh on something all the time, I want to make sure it’s healthy chomping! As a mom who does not enjoy hearing about how chemicals can leech out of plastics, I was happy to find out about Ringley Natural Teething Toys.
The Product: Ringley Teethers are made from 100% certified organic cotton terry cloth, and are wrapped around a ring of untreated maple wood (a strong hardwood which does not splinter). These teethers provide a variety of surfaces for your baby to chew on: cloth, wood, and cloth on wood. This means as your baby’s chewing needs change, they can still use the same teether!
My Experience:My 6 month old took to his Ringley right away. Not only is it a great soft and nubby surface for him to chew and suck on, but he likes to hold it by the wooden ring, which is great for his motor skills. Although you can use the Ringley Teether wet or dry, I’ve mostly been using it dry, because it’s easier that way. Cleanup is easy too – a quick handwash and hang up to dry overnight, and the teether is ready to go again. I like to hang the Ringley from a few links on his car seat so we can take it with us when we travel, and it doesn’t fall on the ground if Asher lets go. It’s also been a great diversion when I have him in his highchair getting ready for a little meal!
The Company: Ringley was developed by a Child Life Specialist mom, concerned about the growing number of recalls on children’s toys and plastic items. She wanted to create a safe toy for babies to chew on and play with. So she chose two natural resources that have been used for centuries with babies – cloth and wood. The result is a growing company that now offers four different styles of Ringley Natural Teething Toys.
