How to go shopping for baby

This post about how to go shopping for baby while avoiding a panic attack is sponsored by PishPoshBaby.com

Do you remember the first time you went shopping for baby? Probably it was at a huge box store, right? Wasn’t it overwhelming?

I distinctly remember a small panic attack that I wouldn’t pick out JUST the right stroller. (and I didn’t). Or car seat. (and I didn’t!).

(I should have worried I didn’t pick out the right pacifier; I went through a half dozen different brands before finding one my babies liked!).

After registering, I read all these baby /mommy blogs and discovered fantastic baby gear products not carried in that mainstream store. Uh oh! (You don’t want to know how many times I exchanged strollers before finding the one I wanted!).

Here’s my tips for How to go Shopping for Baby:

1. Take another mom along!

2. Research online (check out bloggers like me to see what we love!).

3. Don’t just visit big box stores – they are convenient, but don’t nearly showcase the best products on the market for parents and babies!

4. Try on diaper bags, carriers. Bring a baby-sized doll to see how they fit into high chairs, bouncers and strollers.

5. Don’t be afraid to return things if you find something better (check the return policies and keep all receipts!).

I wish I had known about PishPoshBaby.com when I was shopping for baby and registering for my baby shower! Not only do they carry high quality brands of strollers, car seats, high chairs… and engaging toys (not the junky plasticky stuff!), but… my favorite feature is their Mom Reps to answer all your questions!

It’s kinda like shopping for baby with another mom by your side. You can “Ask Sarah,” the mom whose vision created the entire PishPoshBaby store (if you are in NJ check out their “real” store, with test drive stroller areas and more!). Or talk personally with over a half dozen moms at various stages of motherhood – moms who have tried four, five, six different strollers and can tell you which one will fit your active-walker, city-living, weekend-warrior lifestyle!

My other favorite aspect of PishPoshBaby.com is how they don’t carry junk. Let me tell you, nowhere in life is the saying “You Get What You Pay For” more true than when it comes to baby gear.

I’m not saying you’ll break the bank at PishPoshBaby – for instance, in Lightweight Strollers, they carry 27 different strollers starting at $55. I’m saying they don’t carry “cheap” items solely for the purpose of having a variety of price points. They carry QUALITY items in a range of prices.

In every category, (believe me, I spend a fair amount of time daydreaming on their site), PishPoshBaby.com carries brands I know and love. Like Naturepedic mattresses, Stokke Tripp Trapp high chairs, and my new mommy delight: Petunia Pickle Bottom bags!!!

See, Petunia Pickle Bottom wasn’t even on my radar when I registered for a plain jane diaper bag for my baby. I wish I’d known about cool mom gear like this Cross Town Clutch (received free for review), with snap-in changing pad and sturdy wipes case! This dramatic print with stitched detailing is fashionable enough for church, a night out, or just because Hey It’s Finally Spring!

(Psst… you don’t even have to carry diapers in this bag – it’s just that cute!).

Now… shopping for baby with another mom by my side… I wouldn’t have missed such a cute find back then! And maybe saved myself a million trips returning items that didn’t work out!
