Here comes a little neurotic confession. I hate dirt. Not dirt like planting flowers, or dirt like camping. I hate dirt like that weird brown crust on the side of your tub. Or the grime around the sink drain. Don’t get me started about “microscopic dirt” like what we track in under our shoes… yeeck!
I don’t care that it’s MY dirt/crust/grime. It really grosses me out. Like want-to-vomit gross out. You’re probably wondering how can I even clean my house? Simple: Gloves.
Until recently, I bought cheapo cleaning gloves (but in pink so they’d be “special” for cleaning. I cannot clean the bathroom unless I am wearing gloves. NO WAY. GAK!
So, gloves go on. But the problem is, while I’m slopping around, inevitably water trickles down my arm, and somehow inside the glove. Now my hands are floating in dirty cleaning water. ICK!
Thank goodness my sister in law introduced me to Beth at MIO Bags.
MIO Bags began with a simple idea – to make products that have form and FUNction! Practical and pretty at the same time!
Beth Iovino at MIO Bags uses oilcloth (laminated canvas) to make handbags, totes and other fun items. When I asked Beth about featuring her designs on my blog, she made me these great Perryville FUNctional Gloves – Check out the pair she made me for my cleaning!!
Her reverse cuff is patented, and let me tell you – it really keeps the icky water OFF! Plus I look pretty fancy scrubbing that tub in these gloves! There’s even neat little loops for hanging up your gloves to dry.
I have LOVED using these to clean up this Spring. It adds a little “glam” to my day and keeps my hands nice and clean! The gloves themselves are sturdy and flocked inside for comfort! Cleaning is a whole lot more fun when I put these babies on!
Gloves are just the beginning. Wait till you see the chic bags Beth makes! She customizes her products with a wide variety of fabrics to choose from! Here’s a sampling from her store:
Aren’t those bags awesome – for the beach or shopping? And how fun would an oilcloth apron be to flit around the house making summertime treats like popsicles and strawberry shortcake? And the Chalkcloth placemats – what a great kid-friendly idea! Anything from her shop would make a terrific gift for Mother’s Day, birthdays, etc.
Do you have a cleaning gross-out? Do you get yourself special “tools for the task”?
