The Perfect Gift: ThinkGeek Review

Today I bring you… The Perfect Gift for the techy, the geek, the gadgeteer!
$50 ThinkGeek.com Gift Card

If you’ve been reading our blog long enough, you know our family can be a bit geeky. I mean, I have a blog where I write about…grammar of all things. And my husband’s Dad’s Log posts typically contain some reference to Star Wars or other sci-fi shows! So… we’ve been big fans of ThinkGeek.com since we discovered their site last year!

I mean, there’s not too many places you can find 26 Bacon-related items alongside Giant Plush Microbe Toys… the collection of Science Toys alone is astounding! But the best part is the Geek Kids section – tons of toys, apparel, gear and other fun items for your “wee geek!” Considering my son was running around the house last night yelling “CHEW-bak-A!”… yeah, I’d say we have one of those!

ThinkGeek.com is definitely a site I can lose myself in for hours! Just reading their product descriptions is entertaining! I could NOT decide how to feature all the great items I liked so here are some favorites… these are items REALLY on my list to get certain people for Christmas!

From top left to right: Star Wars Costumes, Nerdy ABC flashcards, Hooded Towels, Matroyshka Measuring Cups, Tactical Canned Bacon, NinjaBread Men cookie cutters, Dr. Who keychains, Like/Dislike stamps, YumBot Cupcake holders

ThinkGeek.com must have had a premonition, because guess what item they sent us JUST after my son doodled all over my couch? This Doodle Tablecloth! Wow – if only I had had this earlier! I used it for a big family dinner I had at the house and my niece and nephews loved doodling before, during, and after dinner! It really does wash totally clean in the machine! No residues! Love it! And it’s not a cheapo plasticky thing either. It’s a nice fabric with a good weight to it! You can have your guests play tic-tac-toe or other games, or hold doodle contests, play pictionary… so many great ideas for this tablecloth. 20111021-125806.jpg

And… an item my science teacher hubby can appreciate – the Periodic Table Building blocks! Unobtainium not included! I love a toy that can teach….well, maybe not quite yet, but… think of later years when we’ll be able to bring these out to learn more about science! After all, what in the world ISN’T Chemistry? The great part about these blocks is they are bigger than many of the baby wooden blocks I have seen (and have), and for some reason, my son will NOT stack his smaller blocks, but he WILL stack these! The bright colors are engaging for him too!

And then… was it enough that Chewbacca is the ringtone on my husband’s phone? Or that my son can imitate the sound very accurately? No, we needed MORE Star Wars! Check them out playing with the PlaySkool Millenium Falcon set.

You can open it for a playscape, or close it to fly it around. My one complaint here is when opened, the top/back falls off very easily – I wish it stuck on firmly so my husband son could play better with it. This set comes with Han Solo and our favorite Chewy… asteroids (those are my favorite!) and various weaponry for fighting intergalactic wars!

The range of products at ThinkGeek.com is simply … inconceivable! What will you find there? Stocking Stuffers? Christmas presents? Or maybe you’ll just hoard canned bacon (I would!).

WIN IT: One lucky reader will get a $50 Gift Card to ThinkGeek.com! Enter in the rafflecopter form below!
