Water Wipes for Babies – no chemicals!

Having a baby made us rethink most of how we live. It’s funny how when you look at that little life dependent on you, suddenly your choices become more significant.

I never thought much about the food we ate or products we put on (and in) our bodies until I started thinking about how they might affect a developing child both in and out of the womb.

With this responsibility in mind, we started to

  • eat clean,
  • buy organic,
  • use cloth diapers,
  • plan for TV-free babies

Finding clean alternatives to modern conveniences isn’t always easy. Or cheap.

A few modern conveniences have been a struggle to give up. One is the convenience of disposable wipes.

When we had our first baby, I was sold on the idea of cloth diapering, and eventually used cloth wipes at home. But I’ve been reluctant to take cloth wipes in the diaper bag for two reasons:

1. Other people don’t like to use them. More challenging than getting caregivers to use the cloth diapers has been the concept of them using a cloth wipe.

2. My cloth wipes have never traveled well. My fault, because I forget about them in the bag after a day trip and they get mildewed.

So… I’ve used disposable wipes for travel. Still, I haven’t been thrilled with the choices (or prices!). Until… I found a better alternative when I was asked to participate in a campaign with Water Wipes for babies.

How about cleaning up those wipes?!

The average wet wipe includes ingredients like: parabens, phtalates, triclosan, and benzoates… these chemicals I want to give a wide berth!

And let’s not forget that cloying perfumed scent of most wipes. Ick!

When I first heard about Water Wipes for babies, I thought, “Huh! Now that’s a great idea, why can’t wipes be JUST water?” (After all, that’s what our hospital gave us – paper cloths and a sink!).

Turns out Water Wipes are MOSTLY just water. 99.9%. The other ingredient (of which is just .01%) is grapefruit extract!

Yep. That’s it. Water and fruit. In a disposable wipe. This, to me, makes them great sensitive skin wipes for babies!

Water Wipes for babies: A natural and gentle alternative

Finally, I have found a disposable wipe that doesn’t make me wonder what I’m putting on my baby. Water and fruit extract is gentle and natural for baby skin (5x thinner than adult skin).

Since my babies get rashes very easily, I need a solution for travel with baby! Water Wipes goes in my bag now!

And, it used to be you had to shop specialty or natural food stores to find natural baby products. But now, Water Wipes for babies are available at most Walgreens – how convenient!

Think about the other times people are quick to grab a wipe while out: cleaning hands before eating or after a play date. Removing makeup. When the binky drops on the floor?? Anyone?

Our babies changed our lifestyle… for the better!

Whenever I do anything, it’s with my kiddos in mind now. I think about how it will affect them physically, emotionally, spiritually. There’s always an impact from our choices.

I know we have a lot more to accomplish on our way to a fully natural lifestyle, but I’m happy about the healthier changes our babies have inspired for our family!

What healthier lifestyle changes did you make when you had children?

I really love this and while I still do buy limited amounts of wipes, I of course used to buy them more often. Wish they were around then, but I will never buy a 'regular' wipe again!

I've never heard of these but excited about trying them! It's so nice to hear they are 99% water and the only other ingredient is something so natural, yay!
