What’s in a Cup? ~ EIO Kids Cup

Long before you have to worry about what college your kids will go to, whether they’ll play sports, be in band, star in the school play… you are faced with a host of other decisions that could shape their future.

But the cup they drink out of? Does it really matter? Some say it does.

Drinking cups are serious business!

EIO Kids Cup is a cup “designed to transition young children properly from bottles to real glass dinnerware.” Here’s what they have to say about healthy sipping!

Spouts encourage suckling rather than the natural motion of sipping. Research suggests that any child over the age of 1 year SHOULD NOT use a cup with a valve. Sucking from a valve rather than sipping may be detrimental to dental development. Not to mention valves harbor mold and are easily lost.

Luckily or unluckily, my son doesn’t really like most sippy cups on the market. He likes his straw cup, but otherwise, he tends to throw cups or bang them upside down on his high chair. Great. Yes, the EIO Kids Cup is a little “hands-on” for my 14-month-old, but I am already sitting there guiding his drinking. So I might as well get him started drinking out of a regular cup while we’re at it.

Since the EIO Kids Cups caps have openings, I still attempt to use other cups, especially for travel. But, it is a rare day my son actually drinks from these independently. They are more like carrying vessels for liquids than anything else. I can’t wait for the day I can leave my son unattended with his EIO Kids Cup, but until then, it’s a pretty neat concept!

EIO Kids Cup is a glass cup (therefore, non-toxic), with a silicone sleeve for protection and comfort, and a screw on lid that offers children a little edge when it comes to smart drinking. The recessed cap promotes correct sipping skills!

Silicone is an inert material and does not react with food or beverages, or produce any hazardous fumes. Most importantly, it is non-toxic, hypo allergenic and best of all – it does not promote bacteria or fungus growth.

A side benefit – since the EIO Kids cup is basically the same as a jelly jar, if you want to screw the lid onto another jelly jar – it’ll fit! When your baby outgrows the need for the lid, they can still use the glass. Plus, drinking from a jelly jar is just… classic. (Or, if they outgrow the cup altogether, you can use it for canning – just remove the sleeve!).

Oh, and another great tidbit you should know: EIO Kids Cups’ glass and cap are made in the U. S. A.

Win It: One lucky reader will win an EIO Kids Cup for their child! THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED.
