Mother-Ease Cloth Diaper Review

My readers must think it’s “all diapers, all the time” channel here with the Merry Fluffy Christmas event coming up. But it’s Cloth Diaper Friday so I want to share more cloth diapering experiences.
Today I want to tell you about Mother-Ease Cloth Diapers. It’s funny how things come full circle. Several months into CD-ing, I found out my husband’s coworker’s wife (did you follow that?) cloth diapered about 10-12 years ago. When I told her I was cloth diapering, she said, “You have to try Mother-ease! That’s all I used. Swear by them!” I hadn’t heard of Mother-ease Cloth Diapers at the time, but I got curious, so I started to look into them. What do you know, now I’m reviewing them!

About Mother-Ease

A Canadian-made cloth diaper, Mother-ease emerged when a mom (Erika) decided there had to be a better way to diaper than folding, pinning and rubber pants-ing. She set out to create an easier cloth diaper, and before long, Mother-ease, and 3 varieties of diapers – the All-in-One, the One-size, and the Sandy’s diaper were born!
My Experiences with Mother-Ease
I’m definitely a One-Size diapering mama at this point (frugality), so I chose to review a One-Size diaper with a Rikki Wrap Velcro cover. The Mother-Ease One-Size diaper, which fits an 8-35 lb. baby, is made of lightly brushed terry, and is one of the softest diapers I’ve felt. The terry is thick and squishable, and I love the bound edges which make for a trim fit. The snaps are secure and durable. There is a rainbow of colors to pick from, and although I reviewed an unbleached cotton, it would be fun to add more colors to my stash sometime!
The Mother-Ease Rikki Wrap Cover is a one-size cover that fits either the Mother-Ease One-Size diaper or the Sandy’s Diaper. You can also use the Rikki Wrap with other fitted pinless cloth diapers. I found the Rikki wrap to be generous in sizing. I have a 20 lb 9 month old baby, and the wrap fit well with room to expand due to the Velcro closures. The Velcro is covered with a small “skirt” that prevents leakage, and the elastic binding is trimmed in nylon to prevent wicking. I did like this cover, although, since the Velcro closures are large, my son found it very easy even at this young age to take the cover off by tugging at the tabs! Gotta watch that boy! The Rikki Wrap Cover comes in solid colors and 5 eco-themed prints! I have the cute Wetlands print!
Now for the real test – are you ready? I decided to get brave and test the One-Size diaper and Rikki Wrap cover overnight. Yes. I know. Scary, right? Not so – I used the Snap-In Absorbent Liner and sandwiched a micro fleece insert between the liner and the diaper to boost the nighttime absorbency. Results: this diaper performed superbly at night!! After weeks of having to change a soaked baby every morning, I was relieved to find his pj’s and onesie bone-dry the next morning (and, he slept through the night without nursing – another victory!). This diaper is definitely getting moved to my “night stash” (yes, I have a separate drawer, and it’s kinda lonely right now!).

I recommend Mother-ease Cloth Diapers to anyone building a stash, looking to make their stash organic or all-natural fibers (organic terry and bamboo terry are available), or seeking solutions for nighttime diapering!

Disclosure: I was sent a Mother-ease One-size diaper and Rikki Wrap Cover for my review. All opinions expressed here are my own based on my experiences. I was under no obligation and no other compensation was received.
