The flavors of fall… a crisp apple, earthy potatoes, pungent cinnamon, and mellow pumpkin… just a few more reasons autumn is my favorite season. The fruits of labor are reaped, and we get to enjoy!
This week I tried out a recipe I’d been mouth-watering about on Pinterest. I love the look of candy and nut crusted caramel apples at the fair. But they often prove so hard to bite into, and very messy to eat. These Caramel Apple Nachos turned out great, and can be eated with toothpicks or a fork! Fantastic for a fall party!
Fall Recipe: Caramel Apple Nachos! |
- 3-4 Large Granny Smiths or other tart, firm apple.
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1 T butter
- 1 tub Marzetti Old Fashioned Caramel Dip OR 35 Caramel Candies
- 1-2 T half & half
- Chocolate syrup
- mini chocolate chips, mini Heath crunch crumbles, or chopped peanuts
- Slice the apples into wedges and arrange in a layered circle on a round platter.
- Melt the butter and marshmallows in a glass measuring cup in the microwave (about 30 seconds, stirring halfway through is good). Drizzle over apples.
- Scoop about half the tub of Marzetti Caramel Dip (or caramel candies) into another glass measuring cup, add the cream. Heat in microwave about 45 seconds, stirring every 15 seconds. Drizzle over apples.
- Drizzle chocolate syrup over apples.
- Sprinkle with candy/nut toppings.
- ENJOY!
Keep chilled, as the candies start to get watery from the apple juices if you let this dish sit out.
Marshmallow could be increased to taste.

Great idea. My son is having a little social in a couple weeks and this would be a great thing for some of the adults. We have also have one child that has several allergies. I think this might actually work for her, too. I was thinking of making individual servings in cup cake cups and do it that way. We'll see how it goes.
