I didn’t use a crib bumper with my son, because I kept reading about babies who get stuck behind them… so we did without… and yes, the crib does look a little plain. But one less thing to worry about – it was worth it!
With the American Academy of Pediatrics now saying “no” to crib bumpers, HALO Innovations is introducing its own Safe Sleep Crib Set™ designed to create an attractive and safe sleep environment for babies.
The five-piece HALOSafe Sleep Crib Set™ consists of a HALO SleepSack wearable blanket, SleepSack Swaddle, both in 100% cotton; two coordinating crib sheets in soft cotton jersey; and a matching crib skirt.
“Too often parents ‘overdress’ the crib with a quilt and bumpers, both of which can pose a breathing threat for baby,” comments Bill Schmid, founder Halo Innovations. The Halo SleepSack and SleepSack Swaddle are the only things a baby needs in the crib to stay warm and sleeping safely, and the soft jersey sheet provides a snug fit on the mattress.
I’ve always liked the HALO Swaddles and Wearable Blankets. They are soft, easy to use (I could never figure out how to keep my son swaddled in just a blanket!) and come in so many attractive prints and solids! I think the Safe Sleep Crib Set is going to be a good answer to the “no bumper” recommendation from the APA!
BUY IT: The new HALO Safe Sleep Crib Set will be available in stores in January 2012 and comes in six patterns including pink, blue and neutral tones. Take a sneak peak at my favorite in the new crib set patterns – the Friendly Caterpillar – cute, right?
WIN IT: One reader will receive a HALO Swaddle to get started on safe sleeping for your baby! (ARV $29).
DISCLOSURE: I was sent a SleepSack Swaddle for crafting this post. All opinions are my own and 100% honest.

I was a couplet care nurse and we always swaddled the babies.. some liked it and like min, some did not! Mine would work their little hands and arms out or wail and cry til unwrapped, yet enjoyed being held snuggly in my sling! go figure!

My last 2 little ones have loved being swaddled but my middle two hated the restraint and to this day they are still the ones who sleep all over the place (one can sleep hanging upside down in a chair) and I didnt know enough to attempt to swaddle my first :(
