It’s a turtle.
It’s a pool.
IT’S… a SANDBOX!!
Yes, I turned my son’s sandbox into a pool one hot day this April… Little Tikes already had a leg up on me, because they redesigned their classic Turtle Sandbox 33rd Anniversary edition with a lazy river around the outer edge to bring more fun to sandbox time!
I just took it a step further and put water where the sand would go… my son loved it. Yes, we will get sand eventually, but as it holds 150 lbs of sand, and I am pregnant, that is a job for hubby on the weekend!
Our son loved getting in and out of the sandbox – it’s just the right height for him as a two-year-old to climb over the edge. And he loved making the 3 floating, squirting turtles included with the sandbox “swim” around the river!
This version of the Little Tikes Turtle Sandbox is a bit smaller than ones I’ve seen previously, and I don’t think more than 2 kids could play INSIDE it… but since my son isn’t at the point where he has a lot of friends over, and we have a small yard, it works for us! I’m so happy he will have a real sandbox to dig and play in all summer – up till now, we’ve put a little sand in a cardboard box for him, but he really wants to get his trucks out and make big roads and tunnels!
Two other great features of this sandbox – there’s lots of turtle shell detailing, and it comes with a lid (important as we have roaming neighborhood cats that might mistake this for their litter box!). The lid is attached to the base so it won’t blow away in the wind while your child is playing.
Little Tikes makes such fun toys, especially for outdoor fun! Find more great Little Tikes toys online (many Made in the U.S.A), and follow them on Facebook!

our baby isn't quite big enough for a sandbox yet but I love that I can also use it as a mini pool!

My nephews could spend hours playing in the sand...this would be wonderful to have at my house for when they're over.

We take the kids to the park to play in the sandbox and they love making "flower gardens" in the sand with sticks and Dandelions.
