Suddenly, he…

…is a snuggler

…loves to jump up and down

…bursts into song at the table, in the car, in his crib (when he’s supposed to be sleeping!)

…tells me what he’s drawing at the chalkboard

…knows his colors, even ones like pink, gray, and brown!

…can peel stickers off the sheet by himself!

…says, “Mommy, watch! watch!” proud of his ability to line up blocks, make a circle, or complete a puzzle

…knows when I am sad, and peers in my face earnestly to see if I am pretending or really sad

…knows what pretending means

…can spell his name

…counts from 1 to 10 (sometimes more!)

…knows Mommy likes to sleep in on Saturdays, but loves to run on pounding feet into the room and shout, “Mommy, WAKE UP!” (then leans his head on the mattress and grins at me!)

…can tell me the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, starting with “Pop! Sun came up!” through “…beautiful butterfly!”

…recites “Whooo Aaaare Youuuu!” from the Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland

…tells me what he wants for breakfast (it’s always applesauce)

…still gazes into my eyes while I sing him lullabies

…asks for Coco Milk (coconut milk)

…tells stories about his blocks, trucks, stuffed animals

He’s not even 26-months-old, and suddenly his world is expanding at an exponential rate! And, constantly amazed, my mama’s heart is just trying to keep up!

How do your children amaze you?

My children amaze me by how much they love each other. Today I saw them holding hands in the car as we drove. When I asked what they were doing they simply said, "Love each other". It's true earnest love. My son opens his sister's door to the car and reminds her to buckle up.

My 3 year old amazes me when she can memorize books, it cracks me up when she wants to read to me! My 1 year old is starting to imitate animal sounds, I love watching her learn and soak everything in.

Slightly off-topic, but I'm amazed that even with baby #7, my husband and I are still amazed as each milestone is reached by each and everyone of our kiddos. My 18 month old is currently talking up a storm, using several word phrases, and loves to sing. She can even sing the entire alphabet song. Her favorite part this weekend is Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z. She's been singing that section repeatedly.
