Bump Ahead: Breathable Baby

One of the main reasons I started reviewing products and sharing with my readers was a concern for child safety. I frequently see unsafe parenting, from babies perched precariously atop grocery carts, to loose car seat straps, or children allowed to go up to strange dogs/animals. I think sometimes parents just aren’t aware of certain dangers out there for children.

A key area for safety is baby’s crib. Infants spend a lot of time sleeping, so I’m a huge advocate for safe sleep habits. One thing I am against is the puffy crib bumper. These have been known to be suffocation hazards, or at the very least, trap a child’s arm or leg in a scary and painful place between crib and bumper.

There are great alternatives to the stamdard crib bumper if you simply must have crib decorations, or are concerned about keeping baby from getting caught in the crib rails. Breathable Baby is a mesh crib liner system that provides a barrier between the crib railings and baby but without the suffocation hazard.

The Breathable Baby Mesh Crib Liner wraps around the crib on the inside, and attaches with hook/loop fastener on two sides, facing away from baby. So all baby feels is soft mesh if they are against the side of the crib. The mesh is a special fabric made exclusively for Breathable Baby with A.C.T. (Air Channel Technology) that promotes air flow and maintains air access. Plus, the crib liner tucks down below the mattress, keeping it more secure than a regular bumper.

Althought the Breathable Baby crib liner is recommended for up to 9 months or until baby can stand, I have used it with my toddler to keep his toys and lovies from falling out of the crib. He has a tendency to push the bumper down when he is standing in the crib, but it is easily rearranged, and unlike regular bumpers, it is NOT something he can stand on to potentially climb out of the crib.
