Flip Trainer System Cloth Diaper Review

It’s a Flip. With Albert Einstien print. I am sold!

With all the diapers I review, sometimes people ask which one is my favorite. It’s very hard to say, but one diaper I always always keep in my stash rotation (always) is my Flip diaper covers and inserts. Did I say always? Yes. I have been in love with the Flip system from the beginning.

So when I saw Flip has a new potty trainer kit, I had to get a set! Had to! Sweetbottoms Baby was so kind to send me one – in the Einstien print no less! Perfect (hubby teaches science!).

The Flip trainers work very much like Flip diapers. There’s a PUL cover with snaps, and 3 inserts. You just “flip” out the inserts when they are wet/dirty and put in a new one.

The difference from the diapering system to the training system are minimal but important for potty training:

• The inserts are all “feel wet” inserts – the same as Flip organic cotton inserts for the diapers, which I have never used. (I always used the stay-dry microfiber inserts)
• Detatchable side tabs – patent pending 3×3 adjustable snap system to fit most 18months-4T (approximately20-50lbs)
• Soakers/inserts attach to the shell using ultra-soft loop fabric (in the diapering system, they just lay inside the cover)
• Fold pad in front for a boy, fold in back for a girl!

The most important (cost-saving) aspect of this trainer (just like the diaper system) is you don’t need a WHOLE new trainer each time your child has an accident. I take the Flip trainer off my son, “flip” it inside out and remove the insert (usually from the back where it is still dry). Then I attach a new insert and we’re good to go.

I am not surprised the Flip trainer is turning out to be my favorite trainer yet, given how I feel about my Flip diapers! Here’s how my son feels:

The reason I really love this system for potty training is that my son is moving very SLOWLY through the training process. Meaning… he will go on the potty when asked, but is not telling us when he needs to go. He will generally hold it for a long time (during which we ask him to go every 5-10 minutes!), then the one time we forget to ask him, that is when he’ll have a big accident. So… we need a trainer with the ease of pull-up, pull-down underwear/pants, but the absorbency of a diaper to avoid tons of cleanup!

I love it. Everyone should try it!
