EI GeoSafari Jr. Talking Bug Net

I suppose I had to give in at some point. I really dislike bugs. As in… I run screaming like a mad-woman at the sight of spiders, beetles, and other creepy-crawlies. There are a few I can tolerate (ladybugs, butterflies, ants), but overall I am not a fan.

However… I have a little boy. And he seems to gravitate toward these wiggly-wormy creatures! So… he’s been having a lot of fun with the Educational Insights GeoSafari Jr. Talking Bug Net. Now… this is a bug-fest I can live with because they are plastic!

The interactive toy comes with 6 large bugs – perfect for little fingers to grasp. We like to hide them around the living room and “find” the bugs on a safari adventure! He “catches” them in the net and once we’ve rounded them all up, we start over!The bug net itself speaks dozens of bug facts, phrases, and games. You can have the net identify each bug as you drop it in, or give your child a quiz. Wouldn’t you know, my son is actually afraid of the talking aspect of the net (remember the video monitor!? LOL!). But he likes using the net and bugs on their own, so clearly this makes a great stand-alone toy as well!

We’ve definitely enjoyed learning about grasshoppers, praying mantis, two kinds of spiders, and more bugs. I hope GeoSafari comes out with a second bug set to go along with the next! (I always love “add-ons” to toys!).
