“Shut up and Drink the Coffee!”
No, I’m not being rude – I’m reading the slogan on the Raven’s Brew coffee we just got in the mail!
We are both coffee drinkers Love that! We visit cafes, order cappuccinos, or make coffee at home for each other. Sharing a love of coffee is cozy, I think!
Because we love to check out cafes and coffee brands, one year on vacation in Vermont, we stumbled across Raven’s Brew, a wholesale coffee roaster based in Southeast Alaska. We were so impressed with the rich brews from the coffee shop, we went home and immediately looked them up online. Now we frequently order bulk 5 lb bags of whole beans, that’s how much we love this black gold!
I wish the Internet could give you the rich aroma of Raven’s Brew coffee – I just open the bag sometimes and breathe it in. SO earthy and delicious!
Beyond being a rich, pungent brew, Raven’s Brew has a saucy sense of humor. Coffee roasts like “Wicked Wolf – Grandma’s gone but the coffee’s on!” or “Deadman’s Reach – Served in bed, raises the dead” give you just an idea. Each bag has a intricately detailed illustration worthy in its own right.
But back to the coffee. Although I will choke down anything just to tell my body it’s drinking coffee (and enjoy all the cream and sugar I can get!), I can also be quite the coffee snob. What I love about Raven’s Brew is they roast in small batches for the best flavor. Because Raven’s Brew air-roasts their beans (versus drum roast) the flavor is more intense and sweet, without the bitter aftertaste of some coffees. I hate acidity or burnt-tasting coffee, so Raven’s Brew fits my tastes perfectly!
I have tried many of their roasts, but my favorite are Skookum Blend® (early Dark Roast with full yet balanced flavor) and Wicked Wolf (Dark / Espresso Roast).
New roasts I tried this week were the Bruin Blend® (Dark Roast with earthy and herbal notes), which quickly became a new favorite of mine for its smooth, mellow taste. Also, taste-tested Deadman’s Reach® – a dark roast with a sweet bite!
Raven’s Brew has a full line of Organic coffees, and a couple decaf blends. The decaf taste just as good as regular. I know. I’ve tried both version of Skookum. Trust me. I would not steer you wrong on something as critical as coffee.
Don’t you think COFFEE makes a great Father’s Day gift? I know my dad and husband both would agree!
