Party Ideas: Fun with Balloon Time

Last week, Brett (This Mama Loves) and I had to whip together a Preschool Story Hour party in less than an hour (well, setup, that is – we’d been planning for weeks!).

The library opened at 10 and kids were coming at 11. So there wasn’t a lot of time to decorate. Plus, we weren’t in our own space, so we had to limit our creativity to what could be put up and taken down easily.

The answer: Balloon Time! Not only did Balloon Time have our answer for fun and quick party decor, but they also generously donated a Balloon Party Kit for the event! Thank you, Balloon Time!

My son loves balloons. This is a recent discovery of his! He was shrieking with excitement when I took him to pick up the party kit. The towers of Ballon Time Kit boxes in the party store were just too much for him to comprehend, and he kept walking around them, patting the boxes and saying, “Ba-oon!” in his cute toddler voice!

That was nothing compared to him watching me blow up several dozen balloons for the Story Hour the next morning (you should blow up latex balloons only 1-2 hours before an event). I took the kit with us to the library and blew the balloons up in the parking lot.

The great part of having a Balloon Time kit was that I didn’t have to a) go to a store and order balloons, and watch the clerk roll their eyes when I order SO many and in SO many different colors, and b) I don’t have to fear having an accident because my car is too full of balloons to drive safely. I do wish they offered bigger sized balloons in the kit, or a variety of sizes, but you can easily purchase additional balloons in separate packages.

The Balloon Time kit comes with 50 assorted balloons. So I could pick and choose colors and blow up as many as I needed! And, bringing the box right to the event was so convenient! If a balloon popped (one!) or sailed away (ha ha ha – several!), I easily replaced it with another – no crying children!

Besides colorful party decor, kids just love helium balloons. My baby walked around with one tied to his wrist. Which was great, because he was wandering through the children’s section, and I could keep track of his blue balloon bobbing along behind the stacks. At one point, he laid on the floor and bopped the balloon up and down for quite some time – such amusement in a simple balloon!

Win it: One lucky reader will win a coupon to redeem a free 50 Latex Balloon Time Party Kit! (ARV $32, may have to pay sales tax).
