Healthy Texas Caviar Salsa Recipe

This post brought to you by TABASCO® Original Red. All opinions are 100% mine.

Healthy New Year week is coming to an end… but I want to leave you with one parting shot – my recipe for Texas Caviar Salsa – so many of you have asked about it from my post a few weeks back, when I did my Party for $5.

What’s great about this recipe is it’s chock full ‘o goodness – veggies, proteins, healthy fats… and it also has a huge kick of flavor from the TABASCO® Original Red Hot Sauce I added! You can spice it  up or down to your taste! I personally like a goodly dose of hot sauce in dips like this. I’m not so crazy as to put hot sauce on my eggs like my dad and brother, but in salsas and other snacky foods, I love it! Some people even put TABASCO® Original Red on their pizza, but I am not that experimental…. yet.

Did you know TABASCO Original Red Hot Sauce is over 140 years old? They take plain old salt, pepper, and vinegar, aged over 3 years, and create a flavor booster for just about any type of food. I like it because it’s not just about blow-your-face-off-hotness, it’s about enhancing the flavor of your food. Use it to add a kick to your Game-Day Party Menu or check out the recipes on their Pizza Perfected page!

But now for the good stuff – my recipe:

Texas Caviar Salsa

TEXAS CAVIAR SALSA

1 can black beans OR black-eyed peas, drained & rinsed

1 can corn, drained

1 can petite diced tomatoes

1 fresh green pepper, diced

1 avocado, diced

1 small onion, diced

1-2 cloves garlic, pressed through a garlic press

Several squirts of TABASCO Original Red Hot Sauce (to taste)

Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Mix all ingredients well. Cover and put in fridge for at least an hour so flavors can mingle.

Enjoy with tortilla chips!
