If you’re gonna breastfeed, you might as well eat cookies while you do it!
Lactation cookies are a great way to get in healthy fibers and nutrients that support breastfeeding. (And NO, lactation cookies are NOT made with breast milk! They are just yummy cookies that support lactation!).
To make my cookies, I used the new Domino® Light sugar/stevia blend. Domino® Sugar has a 100 year history of sweetness. Domino® Light is a 100% natural sugar blend – half sugar and half zero-calorie, naturally sweet stevia plant extract. The benefits – all the sweetness, but half the calories of sugar (and reduces the actual grams of sugar intake).
I was curious how the cookies would bake up and taste with this new Domino product. Happily, I found mixing the cookie dough was no different than using regular sugar.
The texture of the cookies was the same as it has been before – a chewy oatmeal-type cookie. Yum! (I used the recipe found at Epicurious.com, with the only substitution being I used the Domino Light Sugar/Stevia blend.)
For me, the flavor was a little different than when using straight sugar. I happen to be sensitive to the flavor of other sweetners, whether it’s stevia, honey, maple syrup. So I could detect a slight flavor difference using the Domino Light sugar/stevia blend. It is still a tasty cookie, with a good sweetness, I’m just letting you know that I could tell it was stevia. I had a few other people sample the cookies and they said they couldn’t really tell.
If you’re trying to reduce your sugar, but still like sweet baked goods and sweetners in cereal and coffees, I think Domino Light is a great alternative sweetner! You can even find a coupon online at their Facebook page so you can try it out for yourself!

I am a diabetic and printed out a coupon for this. I was so excited, but we can't find it anywhere. How do we get the stores to carry it? I can't even find Domino sugar anymore and it used to be the #1 seller.
