I said I’d never get one because they take up so much space… but this spring, the thought of a toddler who’d want to be out of doors all the time in the heat and sun made me start having… gazebo envy.
How nice it would be to sit under a shady gazebo canopy during the hottest part of the day. I wouldn’t get those pounding headaches the sun always seems to bring on. And I wouldn’t get so worried about sunburn (for me, but especially for the baby). ~Because in my fantasy world, my baby will play quietly right under the canopy while I read a novel. Maybe even eat bon-bons.
So… we did it, we bought a 10×10 gazebo and my DH is going to set it up as soon as school is out. I can’t wait! It’s going to fit so nicely with our new outdoor furniture I got to purchase during my mini-makeover.
My plan is to park our van further up the driveway so not only can I use the patio for the gazebo and furniture, but also the driveway that abuts the patio can be an extended play / entertaining area.
I’ve thought about getting some folding adirondack chairs to create a “border” for the space so it won’t seem so “driveway.”
And, I’d like to also get a cushioned loveseat for reading and relaxing, as well as a firepit for evenings outside. A small campfire in the summer is so much fun! I can read my favorite Toasting Marshmallows book of poetry to the kids, and make s’mores!
My plan for the summer is to relax with my family, make sun tea or lemonade, read (and blog!). Just laze the days away! A mom can dream, right?
What will you do this summer? Take it easy, or big plans?

We're hanging around this summer, enjoying ourselves and relaxing when we can. We are spending some enjoyable moments in our back yard during this very mild summer. It is the end of June and my kids are still putting on pants and sweatshirts.
Hopefully, though, we'll be building a playhouse.

Keep dreaming....It will happen! We invested in outdoor furniture this summer and LOVE it! I can sit outside and comfortably watch my children play outside. My children are not toddlers or babies anymore but you are worth it! They won't be babies forever PLUS...you can enjoy it after they go to bed or during nap time! Enjoy your summer and keep dreaming!
