I went to bed last night. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw my thirteen-month-old boy, newly toddling around. And my heart went SQUEEZE!
About two weeks ago, he took 2 steps without support and plunked down. Every few days he would take 2-4 steps once in a great while. He loved to walk while holding our fingers (or in his Juppy!). He really wasn’t THAT into walking independently.
Then, Monday night, April 11, 2011, he just started walking. Hesitantly. Stiff-legged. Side-side waddle. He walked across the kitchen to me and back to my husband. Then later he walked across the living room a couple times – over 15 steps at a pop!
I am pleased to see my son do his little headstand bend to push himself upright and then toddle, toddle, toddle all over. Walking slows him down, so he still resorts to his speedster crawl. But he is on the go! Now he often plays standing up, or carries his toys around in both hands.
He’s gaining independence (I’ll remember that when he’s pulling on my leg crying to be held!). He’s exploring. He’s growing up!
My heart is squeezing.

Awe. I love it when they get to a stand like that.

This just recently happened for us too and it is so exciting but makes me want to cry at the same time! Sniff sniff our babies are growing up!

Exciting times. I love that feeling of "any day now" with some of the milestones like walking. One just never knows when it will be the day.
So, you'll have to let us know when he starts running.
All of this brings new meaning to the pitter patter of little feet, huh?
