This past Sunday was my due date! But instead our second son arrived 12 days early, and so now he is over two weeks old!
He had lost 9% of his birth weight when we left the hospital, and even last week’s checkup showed him at just 7 lbs, 2 oz. so I was pleased today to find he has gained 24 ounces in ONE week! Putting him at 8 pounds even! What a porker!
He’s a pretty easy baby, except when he cluster feeds! Then he screams and screams when he wants to eat (which is about every 30-40 minutes!). He has been sleeping a good four hours at night.
Already I notice he turns towards noises, stares at bright objects placed in his range of sight, has more wakeful times, makes more facial expressions, has a very strong neck (so did big brother) and loves to look around! Oh and I forgot how sharp baby nails are! I can’t keep them filed down of save my life!
Big brother, A., is such a help, always bringing me things I ask for, watching the baby in the bouncy seat, wanting to kiss him goodnight, making sure I nurse him on BOTH sides (LOL!). He can’t wait for baby brother to be big enough to play, instead of sleep in the “plack-and-play” all day!
I sense he does feel a bit neglected by me, when I can’t always go see what he’s doing because I am nursing. But he has been a trooper and behaved so well these past few weeks!
Two weeks have gone by in a blink, and I know the time will continue to pass swiftly…we treasure our dear new little one from God, and pray for his continued health and growth!

Great photo. Because of these cluster feeding session he is tanking up for the long stretches at night. Enjoy it - it's worth it. Sounds like you are doing well feeding him. Good job. I love hearing about A being the doting big brother. Does he fit into his newborn diapers?
