Perfect By Design

I was staring at my baby’s peaceful face after I rocked him to sleep (yes, finally!) today… and I thought, “How perfect are you?”

We are three weeks away from his first birthday, and he has grown and changed so much, yet I still see the same facial features and expressions from when he was minutes, hours, days old… I felt a flutter in my heart when I realized how perfectly, wonderfully did God design us. And no matter what problem, health issue, or scars my baby might get as he grows… in God’s eyes he will always be perfect by Design.

In our mom’s group a few weeks ago, we traced silhouettes of our children, capturing them in a still moment briefly! Then we wrote Bible verses about the body – I typed mine up later and placed them around the drawing. I chose verses that showed the positive aspects of how God created us. And then I framed my drawing of my son to hang on his bedroom wall. We can look at it, and I can share these verses with him as he grows throughout this next year.

I think it’s a great way to start teaching him about how God made him perfectly and wonderfully… teach him to marvel at God’s love and work… and start teaching him Bible verses as well.

I’d like to do another drawing next year around this time to compare the two outlines. And then I can add some more verses to the picture and keep teaching my son more about his Wonderful Creator!

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works… ~Psalm 139:14

How do you mark your child’s growth through the years?

I didn’t do the greatest job with all the “firsts” either b/c I was never sure if THAT was the first time he really smiled, or waved, or was it an accident? J Keeping the blog is helpful. But I need to do better too! The mom’s group is from our church – a bunch of moms get together 1x a month with our Pastor’s wife – she does a lesson and then we all have lunch and chat! J Maybe you could start one yourself? Julie Kieras

What a beautiful way to commemorate his birth and make the years. Someday, though, he will be bigger than you!

I keep a blog for each of the kids so I feel like it's almost like a journal of what they are doing.

I love that you do blogs for your kids – it is a WONDERFUL way to keep track of their growth. They are going to thank you for that. I have been thinking about starting one just for A. but… phew, seems like a lot of work with what I’m already doing! J Still, it’s a great idea! Julie Kieras
