Our family just got home from a trip, so our fridge was a bit bare. We took the opportunity to head down to the 99 Restaurant in Danbury, CT to sample their new spring menu items.
Of course, dining out with small children can be nerve-wracking. It’s hard for them to wait for meals to be served, and you hope they’ll like what they ordered. Not to worry at 99 Restaurants because there’s always something for everyone on the menu.
The kids’ menu at 99 Restaurants is especially impressive, because they even have a mini sirloin steak dinner, which my 6 year old enjoyed. My 8 year old decided to order off the grown up menu for the first time! Wowzah! I can’t believe it but he cleaned up on the Salmon entree he chose!
As for hubby and me, we ordered from the new Spring menu! There are some exciting entrees to pick from on 99 Restaurants spring menu:
Start with their Seasonal Vegetable Flatbread – Thin flatbread topped with a roasted red pepper pesto, fresh asparagus, mushrooms, artichoke hearts and sundried tomatoes with provolone and mozzarella cheese and oven baked.
Their Colossal Lobster Roll is filled with sweet and tender lobster meat blended with just the right amount of mayo and celery, piled high on a grilled brioche roll and served with french fries and coleslaw.
Hubby opted for the Hot Buttered Lobster Roll– similar but without the mayo dressing and warmed through.
I enjoyed the pan roasted Simply Seasoned Fresh Haddock – A local favorite fresh off the boat from Gloucester. Here’s something interesting I learned about 99 Restaurants: because they originated from the Boston area, they have connections with the local fishing industry. In fact, they work with a single fishing family to source their fresh fish dishes. Their fish is so fresh, your server can tell you which boat your dinner came from! Mine came from the Trista II!
It had been a long time since I’ve been to a 99 Restaurant, but I was reminded why I have enjoyed it in the past. A warm and friendly environment with local art prints and photos on the walls. A menu with all the classic American comfort foods. And a comfortable New England-style meal that is hearty and enjoyable.
Find your local 99 Restaurant – they are always adding new locations!
