Thanks Mama – ImseVimse Wool Care Review

So I made it through my first wool washing and lanolizing. I was so nervous! What if it took me forever? What if I did it wrong? What if I didn’t get enough lanolin on the diaper?

It was not at all as I feared. Honestly, when I was done, I said to myself, “That’s it?” It was so simple.

I was sent ImseVimse Wool Shampoo and Wool Cure Lanolizing product to try from Thanks, Mama Cloth Diaper Store. The shampoo is a mild soap that cleanses the wool gently. It has some lanolin in it along with cocoa and palm oil, so it is extremely natural. All I did was squeeze a little soap into a plastic tub of lukewarm water and washed my covers by gently massaging and rinsing them. That took about three minutes. I squeezed them dry, ran them through the spin/drain cycle of my washer and then started lanolizing.
To lanolize, I put about a tablespoon of the liquid ImseVimse Wool Cure, which has 30% lanolin in it, in a plastic deli tub of hot/boiled water (microwave!). I closed the lid and shook it vigorously to ensure the lanolin dissolved well. Then I poured this into a tub of fresh lukewarm water and mixed it in. After placing the wool cover in the lanolin-water, I massaged the lanolin into the cover, and then let it sit, submerged for several hours (you can let it go overnight too). Total time, heating water and all about 6 minutes. Then I squeezed out the water, ran it through the spin cycle again and hung the cover up to dry!
So easy! Here’s a video of me lanolizing a cover if you want to see!

The ImseVimse products worked well, especially on my upcycled wool covers. I did have to lanolize my interlock wool cover a second time, but then later I read that is normal for interlock. I really liked the natural ingredients of these products. One thing I do wish is that they came with more instructions. They do tell you about how much to put in your wash, but there are no instructions for how to handle the wool items themselves. However, those facts are readily available on the Thanks, Mama website, or in my last post!

About Thanks, Mama
I’m happy to say this online baby store is mother owned and operated – and in my neck of the woods – Boston, MA! Helena, the owner, has tried many of the items she stocks herself, because she knows moms only want the best. Although Thanks, Mama is well-known for their extensive cloth diaper selection, they offer much more. Like slings and carriers, baby toys from quality brands like Kushies, Melissa and Doug, and of course my favorite SOPHIE! Bibs, bedding, and even products for moms.
