It’s cookie baking season again! I love cookies, but am typically not motivated to make many until about November / December.
Last week, we had the cousins over for a big cookie baking day. Well… at this age, it was more like a cookie decorating day! It helps to make the dough ahead of time, because little tots are generally not that interested in the process. Maybe by next year.
First, my son had fun rolling gingersnaps in sugar.
Then, we cut out some fall and Christmas shapes. He kept wanting to squish his fingers into them!
And the best part – the decorating! My sister-in-law made egg-yolk paint – very fun for kids, and it looks beautiful if you cover a cookie in this paint. You can make any color you like!
My son had the most fun with the sprinkles. He kept dumping them on the SAME cookie! We had a good laugh at that. He’s very colorful, isn’t he?
What’s your favorite cookie to make with kids?

I have a cookie post planned - I'll have to check and see if I posted it already. We're big into cookie backing around here. T Rex will tell me, "I'll grab the flour, Mama." When he says that I know he's ready for sugar cookie making.

How fun! We're looking forward to making cookies this year, too. (Better get started!) JM and I think it's a great way for little ones to learn to give of themselves, especially at Christmas time.
Would you mind sharing the egg yolk paint recipe? :)
